So, you know how you write a thing and it goes into a book, but you would nonetheless really like other people to actually see the damned thing? As a TOTAL TUMBLR EXCLUSIVE, hereâs my latest thing - a bit of a polemic against the status quo. With contributions from fellow fan-friends, to whom Iâm very grateful.
(with Bertha Chin)Â âReimagining the Imagined Community: Online Media Fandoms in the Age of Global Convergenceâ (in Fandom: Communities and Identities in a Mediated World, Second Edition, 2017)
You did not see me post this here. And the book is relatively affordable, actually, given academic book prices.

Is there any chance you can go and see a physiotherapist? Maybe you have a friend who is one or something? Anything? Either way, I really hope you feel better soon! So much suck :(
I work with a bunch of occupational therapists, but no one dares recommend anything until I have a diagnosis. PT/OT could make it worse if itâs a rotator cuff tear as opposed to something else. Hopefully Wednesday Iâll get some answers and can start fixing whatever is wrong. Iâve had PT on my shoulder before, and I donât look forward to doing it again; itâs literal torture. But so is living with it every day, so... ¯\_(ă)_/ÂŻ

I had something similar going on recently. Turns out to have been a spastic/inflammed teres minor which was *agonizing* to work on, but doing so really did help. Maybe see if you can find a massage therapist that specializes in trigger point therapy? Just other possibility. Hope you feel better soon!
That would be good! An inflammed muscle I can deal with. Iâm not a huge fan of strangers putting their hands on me, but if thatâs what it is, and massage is a cure, I might try it lol.

I agree with kholly. The NP at my doctor's office always assumed I didn't know the numbered pain scale. If I said it was a 7 she thought it was a 4.
Ugh. What is wrong with people?!?!? :((((( Thatâs so cruel of them. Hopefully youâre not still living with a 7.Â

As much as it sucks, if you get the same PA, play your pain up. Don't do the detailed 'I woke up crying' with a straight face because all he's going to see is the face. Some practitioners don't seem to grasp that women have higher tolerance to pain and they just think we're sensitive and therefore moaning for nothing. And be sure to say what happened last time. Refuse to get out until he agrees to find the problem.
Yeah, Iâm not going to leave the room until I get an answer, or a path to an answer. Iâm not down with undiagnosed, chronic pain.Â

This reminds me of a women ignored at the ER medical horror stories post that was making the rounds again recently. Not to scare you, but to say make noise at the doctors office. Push back, don't let the PA write you off.
It doesnât scare me. I donât take great care of myself and I am not terribly body aware, so Iâm sure some day Iâm just gonna drop dead of heart failure or cancer or something. The painful stuff will usually drive me to a doc though, lol.Â

Thank you! Iâm trying <3Â

*hugs gently* I hope it gets better and that the PA doesn't dismiss you again! :(
Thanks, me too! <3Â

Is it just one shoulder, or both? If just one, google "Frozen Shoulder" and see if your symptoms match. Very common in women over 40...
Just one. And holy crap! That would make total sense! Wow, what a relief that it might be something simple and curable without surgery.Â

Song Fic Replies
@adsumcirrat replied to your post âSong ask... Hmm... Actually I had this idea about the Casbah by Abney...â
Have you see the clip for the second one? Imagine either double ohs or Z's thugs popping up suddenly... But I had the very same image for the Casbah - let's explode, let's fuck, let's run away... Later on Alec hears a familiar voice chiding, fucking chiding Bond about unnecessary explosions and just about diws laughing about the irony and hypocrisy. Naturally, Q has to bribe him to stay hush, but M, as in Mallory, knows and sometimes they listen in on the mission & laugh
OMG. This whole story would be worth writing JUST FOR THE REUNION SCENE. Maybe I can get @zooeyscigar to write it with me... *rubs hands together gleefully*Â

lord, so help me i tried /tried/ to get into teen wolf but i just couldn't. IT HAS WEREWOLVES. IT HAS EVERYTHING THAT I LOVE. and i feel like i know who these people are...if i squint.
The show sucks. I mean, there really is nothing for it. The actors kept leaving because they didnât get in depth development or story lines, the plot kept leaving POC and queer people in the dust, the queerbaiting was intentional and horrific (which was 100x MORE hurtful because the writer is a gay man), and the stories just kept making less and less sense. The only reason I care about teen wolf is because I found fandom first, then fell in love with the original cast.
