No it’s not a Doug Peltzman, but my student did a great job of making a master copy. One of this semesters projects was to find a contemporary ceramic artist in the collection of ceramic monthly magazines and recreate a piece of that artist. In the creation of this piece she improved her construction skills with slabs, learned how to create texture and emphasize texture, made a black wash, experimented with mixing underglazes and about Doug Peltzman. Master studies are a fantastic way to challenge students and get them to further their own abilities.
