Wooden Horsie đ´
Product review:
I actually got this as a gift. Bigger than youâd think and made with a very fine quality wood. Honestly itâs so beautiful I thought at first it was a gift from the Gods themselves lol. Not very easy to maneuver though as itâs a bit heavy. The weight is due to the strange choice of interior contents. I understand they didnât want to use that much wood but I probably wouldâve just left it hollow. The product is actually made with Greek soldiers inside that ended up murdering everyone I love. (Which is a bit of an oversight in my opinion.) So, though the craftsmanship is inarguably beautiful, I would NOT recommend this product to friends and family (because theyâre all dead). 2/5 stars. âď¸âď¸
404 Athens not found
Athens lost the second Peloponnesian war to Sparta in 404 and I had to make a pun of it.Â
After reading book 1 of the Iliad, I am forced to conclude that someone wronged a priest of Apollo this year

You're laughing. They stabbed caesar 23 times and you're laughing.
lily reads âheart of a jediâ, continued
It turns out that someone was eavesdropping on Lukeâs conversation with Ben -- apparently, you need the Force to be a ghost, but not to listen to one?
âThe Heart of the Jedi?â High-Admiral Tharkus repeated. âAre you certain of that?â
The  replying  voice  came  clearly  through  the  comm  linkâs speaker: âCertain, High-Admiral. I listened through a window. I heard everything perfectly.â
This dude is a member of the âDioskouroi,â which is absolutely hilarious because thatâs the Greek name for the mythological Castor and Pollux (better known under their Latin name of Gemini). Iâm sure this was intentional, but Iâm confused, since... thereâs nothing twins-y about them so far?
âTheyâre  a  quite  rare  species  who  possess  the  ultimate  in camouflage. Their molecular construction allows them to absorb vast amounts of energy from their surrounding atmosphere and transmute it to matter of any form. They are the ultimate impostors, taking on the guise of any being they wish.â
âShapeshifters!â Kantos exclaimed. âLike Clawdites?â
âBut  not  limited  to  humanoid  form;  more  like  the  Shiâido,  of which they are an exiled branch. Since weâve known of their existence, the  Shiâido  have  maintained  neutrality  in  the affairs  of  the  Republic and Empire; the Dioskouroi hold no such compunctions. Thatâs why I set one of them to spying within the rebel base, hoping for some break.
Wook says that Clawdites is another term for âchangeling,â AKA the shapeshifter species from Attack of the Clones, but claims that Ep. II represents their first appearance. Clearly, that is incorrect since this draft predates them. I assumed they were in the comics at some point, since there are a lot of other comics references (including a Nagai one, lol). I had never heard of the Shiâdo either, but apparently theyâre in there too somewhere?
(though again Wook says their first appearance was in the Galaxy of Fear series - I donât expect them to count Heart of a Jedi, since itâs non-canon and was never officially published, but I donât think Flint was the first to make them up, either. not sure whatâs up with that.)
âPollux, what is he doing now?â
âI  donât  know,  Sir,â  said  the  voice.  âJust  hold  a  moment.  Iâll check.â
On the planet Tatooine, the helmeted and orange-suited figure climbed from the cockpit of his X-wing and dropped to the ground.
The  little  ship  sat  in  a  small  level  patch  atop  a  ridge.  Rocky outcrops along the edge made the fighter invisible from below. The one called  Pollux  walked  to  the  edge  and  climbed  onto  a  boulder  to  peer cautiously down.
oh. oh. I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE, FLINT.
High-Admiral,â he said urgently, âit appears heâs preparing to travel. Heâs just unpacked a hover-scooter from his ship.â
âNot  traveling  by  X-wing?â  Tharkus  said  with  some  surprise. âWhereâs he going, then?â
âHe needs a bowl that was stolen,â Pollux explained. âHe spoke of the Sand People. Theyâre notorious raiders and thieves here. If they took the object, my guess is heâs going after them.â
âTo retrieve a bowl?â said Tharkus. âWhy?â
GOOD QUESTION.
âIt holds a clue to finding the planet, Sir.â
âAh,â Tharkus said, understanding. âWell then, stay with him Pollux. Report on where he goes. If necessary, give  him help, without his  knowing  it,  of  course.  We  must  see  that  Skywalker  reaches  this Angorathea of his.â
âYes, High-Admiral,â Pollux said briskly. âTransmission out.â
As  he  was  shutting  off  his  radio  link,  his  high-admiral  was doing  the  same.  Tharkus  turned  to  look  at  Kantos,  a  gleam  of satisfaction in his eye.
âThis is certainly our  chance, General,â he said with force. âA chance to defeat the rebels after all!â
Kantos shook his head. âI donât follow, Sir. How can following Skywalker do that?â
âIf what Pollux heard is true, this âHeart of the Jediâ is a direct access to his power. It must be the way he taps into this âForceâ of his. If  we  could  seize  it  for  ourselves...â  a  note  of  longing  came  into  his voice, âwhy, we might even turn it to our use. Think, Kantos, what a weapon weâd have then. Nothing could stop us.â
âBut, what if we canât use it?â the other inquired.
âThen we destroy it!â Tharkus said ruthlessly. âAnd Skywalker as well. In one move we wipe out the Forceâs only champion and shut off  its  source.  Either  way,  the  Jedi  threat  will  be  truly  erased.  The Force will no longer aide the enemy side. And without that theyâll be no  match  for  us.â  He  picked  up  one  of  the  slender  pieces, contemplating it gloatingly. âThe game will be in our hands once more. With Skywalker out of the picture, our people will again be convinced that we can win. Support will come to us. And with our full strength rallied, we will strike!â
THATâS NOT HOW THE FORCE WORKS - though, to be fair
they donât know that
this is a classic Imperial mindset and 100% in character
BUT... it is so hard for me to take anything in this book seriously.
also, if Pollux doesnât have a brother named Castor, I will be extremely disappointed.
The fact that anytime anyone mentions Hadrian I immediately turn into Rocky Balboa and want to yell out âYO! HADRIAN!â demonstrates that my comedic genius has yet to be recognised.
