honestly? people can say whatever they want about the monkees but they were my childhood. iâd sing their music with my family, and they all had such heart and soul. davy was my original crush, and âdaydream believerâ is tattooed to my heart by now. ever heard âzor and zam?â itâs an anti-war song. not written by them but still, the fact they chose to sing it is amazing. davy was and still is iconic. they entertained people. davy jonesâ voice was heaven, especially in that âdaydream believerâ live japan version. âdream worldâ represents the modern joke we call politics, and âdaydream believerâ always makes me feel at peace. good music is eternal. and the monkees were adored by the beatles. the monkees apparently actually outsold the beatles and rolling stones combined in 1966-67. their show was inspired by the beatlesâ âhard dayâs nightâ with all the running scenes and such. paul had âyesterdayâ and davy had âi wanna be free,â which is a beautiful anthem as well. john lennon said the monkees were, âthe funniest comedy team since the marx brothersâ and that he ânever missed an episode.â george said, âwhen they get it all sorted out, they might turn out to be the best.â mike nesmith and john lennon were friends. micky and paul were friends. and, popularity doesnât determine quality of music at all. i sincerely wish the monkees had more credit than they do. the group was honestly fabulous. bonus; listen to âgirlâ by davy jones and âgirlâ by the monkees. please, donât hate on the monkees for the angle they were set on. their music, friendship, and mark on the is forever timeless.
