How My teacher grouped them
She grouped them based on how I selected images with hands, single figures, portraits, and usage of space in the image.
She also tasked me with taking photos of random scenes, areas that could be used in my project to represent concussion.
How I placed the 100 images out on the table (randomly so there is no influence on my part for class mate to group)
How my class mate put them in thier groups.
it appears that he grouped them in a way based on there style of illustrations
Dissertation ideas
-Premature sexualisation of girls in Animation/Games. What effect does this have on desensitisation/ society/ how women are viewed?
In this example I would be thinking about focusing on a comparison between anime and Western animation, as both are guilty of having sexualised young girls in their media, however it would be interesting to compare the Eastern vs Western approaches and attitudes. For example the age of consent in Japan is 13, and there are whole genres of anime dedicated to being sexually inappropriate, ecchi for example
-Graphic Violence in Animation/Games. How does this effect our levels of desensitisation?
In this example I would have a similar question to the first however I don’t think it would be too beneficial to compare Eastern and Western values specifically against each other for this. I would be interested in actually looking into the psychology behind being exposed to violence, but also participating in it as gaming is an interactive medium. Does the fact that it is virtual make it okay or does it have a bigger effect on our real life morals and views than we know.
-Element of ‘escapism’ in Animation/Games
In this example I would like to explore how Animation and Games can be used as an almost therapy, exploring themes of mental health and escapism. In this example I would also question the element of is having controversial content and the ability to interact with it a healthy way to release that steam/desire and not then do those things in real life.
-Separation of Art from the Artist. Is it possible or moral to still enjoy/support art created by those with controversy.
This example is highly topical in todays climate as it is increasingly becoming less frowned upon for victims of celebrity violence or misconduct to come forward and share their stories. Should we boycott the creations of those people by association? Or should art exist separate from the artist.

Class task
We were given a set of questions to help us think about what actually interests us and what we would potentially enjoy writing about or what would benefit us more to write about.
When I think of animation, the first word to come to mind is - FLOW
I wanted to study animation because - TO LEARN A NEW SKILL
The thing I’ve enjoyed doing most on this course is - HISTORIC RESEARCH FOR CHARACTER DESIGN
My dream career would be - STORY OR CHARACTER CREATION
Outside animation I most enjoy - GAMING
I’m most likely to argue with someone about - SOCIAL POLITICS
The most important issue in the world right now is - INJUSTICE/ INEQUALITY
If Walt Disney came back from the dead I would ask him - WHAT HE WOULD’VE DONE IF HE WASN’T AN ANIMATOR
I thoroughly enjoy writing essays and conducting research for the topics we have looked at so far. I think I potentially want to look at an aspect of the world of animation and question whether it is okay morally.
23/05/18 Studio Exercise
Chance: based on a set of rules, I created this image, purely made from chance. It connects to my assessment 3 work as it draws somewhat of a similarity between women and nature.
Rules:
1. Divide each of first 18 portrait photos of a woman or flower into nine equal parts 2. Allocate a number to each portrait photo. 3. a. If the time is even, keep only the odd-numbered photos, If the time is odd, keep only the even-numbered photos b. From the largest numbered photo, use the first 1/9 piece. Next would be the next largest numbered photo, and use the second 1/9 piece etc. c. Continue until a photo is formed.
Some restraints: it must be a photo, the subject cannot be repeated, keep scale and do not change size of photo
09/05/18 Class Task
A paradox - something rich exists only if there is something poor, and vice versa. Despite initial impressions, the subjects are neither. Because two elements are placed against each other, they interdependently emphasize the other.
