They keep so much hidden from each other, for various reasons and those reasons change over time, but it’s so interesting to think about what they DON’T at keep hidden. The things they adress in view of the other.
The simple fact is is that they both know exactly what is happening between them at all times. They are both, to a not insignificant degree, well aware of the way their relationship works.

The line after Clara’s betrayal when twelve says “this is one of those moments...The darkest day, the blackest hour. Chin up! Shoulder’s back! And see what we’re made of. You and I.”
Sure they could’ve been talking about them “going to hell” to get Danny back, but it is so plainly there, in the subtext but also in the text directly.
we all know, and they both know, that they are talking about each other. The dance they dance whenever they are together. Toeing the line in broad daylight, pushing and pulling in a great big circle for the rest of time.

he definitely lacks personality. it feels as if the show wasn’t in more of a change over than w/ the 5th doctor. and then mainstream television viewers and some fans lost faith in it, even tho after the fifth doctor it started to become more sure of itself and battled to keep people interested in it 😩
I know. The decline of classic Who started with 5, not with 6 and 7 like people say.
