Is it so basic that itās happened a bunch of time already?I donāt think so!
nn, well no, there is a sad lack of lesbian teenagers written, particularly ones of color. Hrm. I need to go back to the pool and think some more.

it does! and itās super hard to let guilt and/or regret and/or embarrassment go. But basically, you literally CANāT fix things, and you know youāll do your best to do a similar situation better in the future. Propagate positivity now, for future use.
I can try that. I mean, I'm usually the one that goes on about positivity and seeing the good in things and learning from experience and all. No one knows what the future, but our outlook affects a lot. Thanks :3

clairegoesskating replied to your post: Iāve been a horrible person.
who hasnāt?
I know, but well, it really bothers me when I feel like I should have done something and I didn't and the reason I didn't feels like it fluctuates in validity and I can't fix things. If that makes sense.

This is really surprising to me! I am currently 3/4 of the way through W and I am of quite the opposite opinion re: its writing. What is it that you like so much? I donāt want to get in your face, I promise *fruit basket*Ā
i'm legitimately baffled by this opinion because the only thing about w i ever had a negative opinion on was akiko could be a little shrill in the beginning
everything about it is great except luna so like where do i even begin
i like the way it takes noir tropes and punches them squarely in the face to give shotaro the ending he needs and deserves, not the one he thinks he has to have. i like akiko slamming her way into the story and refusing to leave, because she is part of it, by virtue of trying to keep the fate of her father from her, and once she learns what happened, she still doesn't leave, because despite herself she cares about these assholes. i love shotaro, who struggles with loneliness and inferiority and grief and abandonment and self esteem. i love philip, who struggles with self-identity and humanity. i love ryu, who struggles with revenge, and the weight of the past, and with anger. i love akiko, who struggles with being too perfect to be real. i like the way it gives the sonozaki women ugly stories, unpleasant stories, important stories. i like the way shotaro and philip fit badly together and grow into one another. i like the story of sokichi being a really shitty father and still setting shotaro and philip up to be heroes. i like ryu learning to live again. i love wakana's character arc, where her agency is stolen from her again and again until sheĀ takes it back in the form of her own sacrifice. i love saeko being a legitimately terrible person, and how her arc and shotaro's mirror each other as children trying to live up to the ideals of their fathers on opposite sides of the same conflict, though saeko has figured out nothing will ever be good enough to impress ryubee (and nothing will ever be good enough for ryubee, tbh)Ā and shotaro thinks that no matter what he does, nothing will be good enough for sokichi's ghost, even though he already is. i like the way the show uses noir as a backdrop and then completely subverts what noir values because those things are unrealistic and impossible, especially for a man like shotaro. i like the humor and the monsters and the side characters. i likeĀ everything.
