Advice From a 10-Year-Old
I have been to Nashville a couple times and have seen Nissan stadium. Iāve had an exchange with Dexter McCluster before he made his way to the Chargers and in the nicest way possible, I sometimes forget the Tennessee Titans are a team. I just forget they are there. So how this game was so painful to watch, I donāt even know.
Earlier this week I had a lovely conversation with my 10-year-old best friend, Isabelle. While talking about how she knows more about football than her dad on a count of her free time, she also told me what she wanted her fantasy football team name to be, but didnāt have enough characters for. The team name she wanted has stuck with me. If Isabelle had it her way, her team was set to be called, āWhy Be Average, When You Can Be a Savage?ā This has become the motto I want to live my life by and has me wondering, Seahawks why arenāt you using that as team motto?
I donāt know what was thicker, the humidity or the tension on the field. The first half of the game was slightly uncomfortable and I had a feeling someone was going to end up getting punched. SURPRISINGLY, that didnāt happen and Iām guessing itās for the best.
I know not everyone will agree with me but here it goes, I donāt hate when Sherman gets like that. Maybe he gets a little TOO heated but he is trying to fight for what he thinks is right and he doesnāt back down. I also donāt think that was a bad hit on Marcus Mariota. From where I was watching, it looks like Bobby Wagner took more of that hit than Mariota did.
In the beginning of the second half I was pretty sure that was when everyone was going to step it up and start playing like they wanted to be there. Like they wanted to win the game, boy was I wrong. I donāt want to say we played terribly, because we actually scored more than one touchdown in this game. Buuuuuut how we played is nowhere near how we should be playing. I say we like Iām out there too (I have a blog, thatā a game in its own).
It was nice to see Jimmy Graham actually playing today⦠and catching the ball. I was surprised. Hopefully Doug Baldwin will be able to bounce back from this injury he has, but while youāre out good sir⦠Jimmy itās your time. Catch the ball, jump when necessary (cause that one jump you did earlier wasnāt needed), and show us what you can do.
Oh Russell Wilson. The passes in todayās game were reminiscent of a classic baseball movie from my childhood, Rookie of The Year. If anyone hasnāt seen that movie allow me to first start this off with, spoiler alert⦠When Henry loses his speed, and can no longer throw the ball, his mom cheering from the stands mouths to him āfloat itā which results in Henry throwing a floater pitch and it was perfect and blah blah⦠That is how Russell Wilson was passing in the beginning of the game. I will say, some of them were totally worth it. I will also say, when Luke Willson, Cj Prosise, Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett, and Jimmy Graham were able to catch the powerful Russell Wilson passes, it was good and did more for the game than any of those floaters could.
Boom for Thought: Itās time to play like the CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM WE ARE. I think you all are motivated but keep making these mistakes that catch up with you. They arenāt even huge mistakes. They are little ones that turn into a loss of yards, a ton of penalties, and ultimately big plays. Time to start executing. And a little last piece of advice from my 10-year-old best friend, Isabelle. āHave faith in them. You have to have faith in your team.ā Well Isabelle, Iām trying.
This weekās MVP (in my mind): Doug Baldwin
