Inferis - Gula - Citree
I present to you the Citree general concept art. You can imagine it with even more trees and small houses, it’s been a few years the sketch was done and I didn’t have the time to finish it before now. The Citree is a collaboration between me and Daphy ( She helped me with the concept, did the lineart of my sketch and correcting this text-. Thanks again, I would have died-- ).
This place can be found in Gula and many people wish they could live there. It’s probably one of the calmest places in Inferis and the view is astonishing. Almost like a small forbidden Heaven within Hell. Cottagecore houses, log cabins and tree houses are places of choice for any creature that establishes themselves here. Despite growing in a tree, the fruits and vegetables from the Citree have the same quality as those that are cultivated in fields. One of the citizens' biggest incomes of money comes from the exportation of the Citree's wild berries, since they grow as quickly as weeds. Fireflies can be seen at night, but be careful to not mix them up with the few Will o' Wisps that may appear to try to trick people.
Crystron Citree ———————————————— During your opponent's Main Phase or Battle Phase: You can target 1 non-Tuner monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it, but it has its effects negated (if any), and if you do, immediately after this effect resolves, Synchro Summon 1 Machine-Type Synchro Monster using only that monster and this card (this is a Quick Effect). These Synchro Materials are banished instead of being sent to the Graveyard. You can only use this effect of "Crystron Citree" once per turn. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: Invasion: Vengeance (INOV-EN016)
Crystron might not seem a very different build compared to other strategies, but their Tuners is what truly gives them uniqueness. With abilities activated during the opponent's turn, a Crystron Deck can constantly Synchro Summon during any player's turn to the point of achieving expensive monsters in no time. Along methods to recycle their Tuners no matter their location, the archetype will achieve their big summons in no time as well using them in response of opponent's actions.
"Crystron Citree" might be the most recurrent member of its archetype, as shares a similar ability from many other recurring Tuners in other builds. During the opponent's turn, "Citree" can revive a non-Tuner monster in our Graveyard with its effects negated to immediately follow with a Machine-Type Synchro Summon. "Citree" and the target material might banish themselves afterwards, but given the popular abuse of the Graveyard in current strategies gives this Crystron a pool of monsters to revive during the opponent's turn. Combined with archetype options and other we could mix along with, "Citree" will become the lead material for most of our Synchro Summons.
In an archetype so focused on its Synchro Summons, is obvious that they will provide sufficient methods to obtain "Citree" in no time. Non-Tuners Crystrons shares the ability to trade a face-up card (Including themselves) to summon a Tuner from our Deck, with the addition of Graveyard effects such as "Crystron Thystvern" for further searching and "Crystron Prasiortle" summoning "Citree" from our hand. With the addition of the Extra Monster Zone was inevitable the Link Monster support, with "Crystron Needlefiber" allowing us to summon "Citree" as soon is Link Summoned and further assist our Synchro Summons with its arrows. With further help of cards outside their theme like "Genex Neutron" and "Gear Gigant X", overall we will assure that "Citree" is ready to go from our first turns. When comes to late game there's really nothing to worry about, not only by revival effects like "Crystron Entry" (Also able to summon from our hand) but also "Crystron Impact" able to recover "Citree" once banished by its effect and other causes.
Preparing its effect shouldn't be that difficult given Crystrons can destroy themselves for all sorts of benefits, the other Extra Deck summons we can aim for beforehand, as well options like "Mathematician" allowing us to mill specific monsters from our Deck. But although "Citree" might seem slow compared to Tuners using revival effects during our turn, its purpose is to use its chainable potential along the leading Synchro Monster of this archetype. With the right timing and the proper material(s) in our Graveyard, "Citree" will summon "Crystron Ametrix" to rearrange all Special Summoned monsters on the opposite field, or "Crystron Quandax" so we can follow with an even bigger Synchro Summon. If in company of these monsters or using the shorcut provided by "Crystron Needlefiber", is quite possible for "Citree" go a step further and assist us with the arrival of lead monsters like "Crystron Phoenix" and "Crystron Quariongandrax". Most Crystron Synchro Monsters also shares the effect to revive a monster from our Graveyard after their defeat, so if "Citree" is in there we can repeat the process right away. Otherwise, the previously mentioned "Crystron Impact" and other methods to retrieve banished monsters will allow us to recover "Citree" in no time and continue with our Synchro Summons. Keep on mind that "Citree" only restricts Synchro Summons arround Machines, so we can expand our options with off-theme creatures like "Hi-Speedroid Chanbara" and "Ally of Justice Catastor". Additionaly, don't hesitate on Synchro Summoning with "Citree" by common means given the various opportunities to recover it during any player's turn.
Graveyard setups are popular because cards like "Crystron Citree" exist, easily becoming the lead card of its own archetype thanks to the various resources involving it. With Crystrons' ability to destroy cards or themselves for all sorts of effects as well other methods to pile monsters in our Graveyard, "Citree" will obtain plenty of materials to work along during the opponent's turn. Not only that, but while similar monsters will deal with their demerits, "Citree" not only has a big pool of Machine Synchro Monsters outside Crystron, but also options to assure its retrieval once banished. Truly the main issue is if we overextend with Crystrons' Graveyard effects when banished as a cost, but overall "Citree" is yet another example of a material being the true lead monster of a whole archetype as soon a few preparatives are set.
Personal Rating: A+
+ Revives a monster during the opponent's turn to follow with a Machine Synchro Summon + Greatly supported including options to recover it once banished + Chainable to work along the effects of Crystron Synchro Monsters and others
- Might seem slow compared to similar Tuners - Don't overdo it with Crystron's banished effects from the Graveyard to assure its abilities
