honestly it still gets me when privileged entitled actors and their stans say shit like "actors can play any role because that's what actors do, they act" like bitch as someone who actually went through theatre school and has a fucking degree in acting i'll tell you this, yes we as actors play pretty much any role, we play different genders, ages, sexualities, and hey, we even move like trees sometimes too 'cause you're embodying other people and things with different experiences and sometimes you're imaging the wind moving through your leaves cause you're a fucking plant, but you know fucking what? all this shit is done in a classroom setting aka a place for learning and exploration. and you know where it isn't done? IN A FUCKING HOLLYWOOD MOVIE! actors who say shit like "i just wanted to learn through this charter." or "this role seemed challenging to me as an actor that's why i wanted to play this character." when talking specifically about roles that they shouldn't be playing, they are straight up lying to you. actors know that the majority of skill honing is done in the classroom/doing scene work, and they know that they're free to explore there, but they don't want to, they just want to give you an excuse for them to play these roles in the public eye, and most likely they're doing it for the accolades and not for the experience. stop supporting actors who claim that the silver screen is their sandbox just because they don't want to take an acting class, the place where the sand actually is.
