As one whose primary love language is words of affirmation, nothing hurts me more than falsities (be they lies or empty words), verbal attacks, or silence.
However, I have to sit with the fact that we all will sometimes default to the things that harm us in the end, when we lash out as well. Our strengths are often our weaknesses when basic instincts are triggered.
I am prone to choose silence as it is the least harmful of the three and more private. So I cannot refuse to understand it when it occurs from others and have to respect it. To choose to sit in quiet rather than lash out and harm the ones we love is wiser than saying words we cannot take back. Until the soul searching and wisdom comes to address the problem.
That’s the key. We have to circle back to the problem and address it or it circles around again in it’s own ways. Evolving often moves in circular patterns.
Life lessons must be resolved in order to move on. We can try to avoid them, but usually the Universe doesn’t allow us to for a far grander reason if we will only sit with it long enough to see. ✨
A Study in Saving
I hate love these circular patterns in the show.
We start series 3 in Serbia, Sherlock being held and tortured and saved by Mycroft. And we end with Sherlock on the plane on his way to his death in Eastern Europe only to be saved by the Moriarty video. In between he saves John from the bonfire, saves Parliament from being blown up, saves the day during the Sholto incident and finally saves John and Mary from Magnussen.
Not to mention the parallel endings of series 2 and 3: Sherlock going away and leaving everything behind to save John.
