              “  it’s  so  hot  …  can  i  just  put  your  hair  up  for  you?  braid  it,  or  something?  it’s  so  long  and  pretty!  ”    allie  toys  with  a  loose  strand  of  her  own  hair  while  she  waits  for  an  answer,  lip  bitten  in  anticipation.  her  hair’s  pulled  up  and  out  of  her  face,  even  while  she  likes  it  down  in  the  sun  most  days,  it’s  better  kept  up  when  she  lays  out  by  someone’s  pool  and  pretends  like  she’s  going  to  swim,  bikini'd  and  all,  even  though  anyone  who  knows  her  knows  that  she  never  will.
