Finally, I had to source audio. At first I was unsure what to use, but after some advice from Andy I decided to use the original sound from the gig videos. Some parts were unusable, so I took them from other videos I had, or in one case, a live performance of the same band I found from some dude’s phone on YouTube. I edited the sound to make it fit, then used my super useful audio knowledge I got from my super useful audio production degree (hahaaaa) to add crossfades, phase, reverb and delay effects. Luckily these are all built in to Premiere. I’m fairly happy with the result, it certainly creates a trippy, ethereal layer to the band footage. I do like the way the video came out, especially the bleed and contrast effects. Having never used Premiere before this unit, I can now use it quite comfortably, which is pretty great. I attempted to walk a fine line between “experimental” and “enabling every effect with a checkbox” and think I mainly succeeded in creating a coherent theme. Although, I think the time constraints worked against me, and it might have been exponentially more rad if I’d used separate videos to showcase each transition and effect.
Discovered that using the colour key effect, I could layer the same clip, but change the colour of one to completely transparent until the other clip is visible underneath. Additionally, by increasing the colour key threshold to maximum, I could create an awesome negative space black and white contrast.
So, for my assignment I combined footage I’d collected at various gigs over the last few months, and decided to blend them together to recreate the disorientation, visual and emotional experience of being in a mosh pit at a live music venue. First, I cut the video down to 1 minute of total footage. Then I began to experiment blending with colour keys, luma keys and fades. The process become much easier when I learned automation, and realized I could change the effect values over time using key frames, allowing seamless effect transitions.
REFLECTION
Making this video has been a really good experience. We got a lot of creative freedom with this project, which at first was a bit daunting since there was so many directions I could of taken. But in the end it gave me the opportunity to explore different concepts with very little boundaries.
I've learnt so many different techniques that I've even incorporated into my assignments for other units. But the main thing I learnt from this was to not plan everything out in the beginning but to try out many different things and explore new ideas.
If I could improve anything about my video it would be the video quality. I should of taken advantage of the wide variety of resources available to me like the video cameras or the projector in the cave.
Overall I'm really happy with the outcome of my video. It's something that reflects my personal style and pushed me to my creative limits.

Changes Made to Video
I decided to get rid of all of the parts of my video that were sourced from other texts including the first clip that was originally from a MSMR music video and the still images sourced from google. I replaced them with my own clips as I found that they made the audience engage better to my video than the alternative clips that made them lose interest. It also made my video flow better as the subject matter was made more clear.
The process of capturing then editing each individual clip of my video was definitely a long one. It involved the capturing, cropping, lighting adjustment, colour adjustment, resizing and time altering of each clip. I ended up with so many premiere pro files that I feel like a horder.
Here is my final video. I’m pretty happy with the overall outcome of the video seeing as I had to teach myself how to record in game by using the steam’s engine, as well as learning how to edit in a totally different piece of software.
The main problem I had was uploading the video in full resolution to YouTube, it took a while, but its finally done.
