A new mini box has been announced for Duel Links and will be arriving on the 31st August: Arts of Atlantis! This new box introduces the brand new Chronomaly cards to Duel Links with the new Yu-Gi-Oh! playable character Trey hot on the heels arriving in the next couple of weeks! In todayβs article, now live on our site, we go over the full card list in this new set.
What are your thoughts on the new Mini Box?
βChronomalyβ is a portmanteau of chrono- (βtimeβ) and anomaly.Β
The archetypeβs Japanese name isΒ βOOPArtsβ (βOut-Of-Place Artifacts), which explains the English name. Out-Of-Place Artifacts are relics whose designs and functions are too advanced for the civilization they are attributed to, so the nameΒ βChronomalyβ reaffirms how OOPArts are truly anomalies for their time.
Chronomaly Nebra Disk ββββββββββββββββ When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 "Chronomaly" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Chronomaly Nebra Disk". If this card is in the Graveyard and all monsters you control are "Chronomaly" monsters (min. 1): You can Special Summon this card in Defense Position. You cannot activate cards or effects during the turn you activate this effect, except "Chronomaly" cards and effects. You can only use 1 "Chronomaly Nebra Disk" effect per turn, and only once that turn. ββββββββββββββββ Can Be Found In: World Superstars (WSUP-EN001)
Chronomaly is an archetype based on ancient and mysterious artifacts, completely focused on Xyz Summon. While that might not seem an unique playstyle compared to many other Decks, Chronomaly gets a bit of an upper hand with all kinds of Special Summons as well Level manipulation. With Chronomalies becoming easily available from early to late game, as well all kinds of setups including Rank-Up, is an archetype that can mold their strategy with other themes and Extra Deck options quite easily.
"Chronomaly Nebra Disk" takes two core purposes depending of its position during a Duel. If Normal Summoned, "Nebra Disk" will allow us to search for a Chronomaly card from our Deck to our hand excluding copies of itself, ranging from not only monsters but also Spells and Traps related to the archetype. If in the Graveyard, "Nebra Disk" can revive itself if all we have on the field are Chronomaly monsters, but for the whole of the turn (Even before using this effect) we can only play Chronomaly cards and effects. "Nebra Disk" is obviously a highly efficient monster to the point of leading the whole build on its own, starting by looking for key cards in the archetype to later on constantly revive itself to work arround their Extra Deck setups.
With a searching effect only available by Normal Summon as well a revival effect of its own, "Nebra Disk" limits itself when comes to support to work along with. While there are some options to be Special Summoned during the first turns, in most circumstances will be preferable to be added to our hand by discarding "Chronomaly Crystal Skull" or the Xyz effect of "Gear Gigant X". Another option is using the excavating effect of "Chronomaly Technology", as although won't always assure we pick "Nebra Disk" with its aid we can always end with other valuable cards otherwise. "Nebra Disk" might be able to revive by its own ability, but we can spare restricting ourselves with its drawbacks by using other alternatives such as "Chronomaly Crystal Bones" or "Chronomaly City Babylon", to the point that we might summon several copies of "Nebra Disk" together. But if all you want is to abuse its Graveyard effect without waiting to be added in our hand, we can easily dump it by cards like "Brilliant Fusion" and other milling effects to follow with its constant revivals in the next turns.
"Nebra Disk" will most likely lead the entire archetype with both of its effects as the Duel progresses. Its searching effect pretty much covers the whole build and will let us obtain the proper card for the proper situation, ranging from key members such as "Chronomaly Golden Jet" or "Chronomaly Moai", to supporting Spells and Traps like the mentioned "Chronomaly City Babylon" or "Chronomaly Pyramid Eye Tablet". While "Nebra Disk" has stats solid enough to confront most fights, in most circumstances will focus on our bigger summons as we work with other Chronomaly cards and other Extra Deck options if we can expand our tools arround the archetype. This is specially the case as soon "Nebra Disk" is in the Graveyard as will be brought back each turn to cheaply prepare several Xyz Summons, ranging from Rank 4 monsters such as "Number 36: Chronomaly Chateau Huyuk" to Rank 5 summons like "Number 33: Chronomaly Machu Mech" by working along "Golden Jet" and other materials. Remember that the revival of "Nebra Disk" will restrict our cards and effects to those belonging to Chronomaly, but won't stop us from summoning other Extra Deck monsters outside the archetype to make their effects available once the turn ends. Don't forget that "Nebra Disk" can only use one of both effects each turn, so we must commit when comes to gathering various copies in the Graveyard or our hand.
As both a searcher and a material, "Chronomaly Nebra Disk" easily becomes the most important member of the whole archetype. "Nebra Disk" will start by looking for one of all the Chronomaly cards available excluding itself, to later on be constantly revived as long we keep our field arround these monsters. "Nebra Disk" alone will let us prepare our hand for any situation, and in the next turns becomes an exploitable material as keeps reviving itself each turn. Obviously with such powerful abilities "Nebra Disk" limits our gameplay to the archetype itself, but is still capable to mix itself with other themes and setups without damaging its requeriments. With more than enough opportunities to become quickly available despite a searching effect only triggered by Normal Summon, "Nebra Disk" easily becomes the true threat of the archetype with its toolbox nature and abusable material role.
Personal Rating: A+
+ Searches any Chronomaly card except itself when Normal Summoned + Revives itself if we only control Chronomaly monsters + Greatly supported to work as material each turn + High stats
- Its searching effect is only available by Normal Summon - We can only activate Chronomaly cards and effect the turn is revived - We can only use one of both effects each turn even with various copies

Chronomaly Golden Jet ββββββββββββββββ Once per turn: You can increase the Levels of all "Chronomaly" monsters you currently control by 1. ββββββββββββββββ Can Be Found In: Return of the Duelist (REDU-EN011)
Level manipulation has become as recurrent engine from the very first years of the card game. At the beginning there was scarce but reliable methods to change a monster's Level and cheapen Tribute Summons, but as the options arround the Extra Deck increased it became more arround those monsters already in our field. Nowadays is mainly used for Synchro and Xyz Summons, allowing us to freely obtain the proper monster from our Extra Deck for the perfect situation no matter which materials are we using for the summon.
"Chronomaly Golden Jet" is a valuable member of its archetype as allows them to mold setups with its assistance. Once on the field, "Golden Jet" is able to increase the Level of all our Chronomaly monsters by one. Is a very simple ability yet with incredible potential to diversify our Extra Deck arround it, and together with the proper options to gather Chronomalies with it won't take too much time to work most of our turns arround this effect.
"Golden Jet" is highly supported by various sources to assure it becomes available as soon as possible. The Normal Summon of "Chronomaly Nebra Disk" or discarding "Chronomaly Crystal Skull" will be more than enough to obtain "Golden Jet" in our hand. There are some other options slightly less reliable but useful nonetheless to increase our searching options, like the Trap "Stonehenge Methods" summoning "Golden Jet" in response of destruction, or "Chronomaly Technology" giving us a small chance to add it in our hand if excavated. Searching effects further increases outside the archetype, with the Xyz Monster "Gear Gigant X" or the summoning effect of "Summoner Monk". Finally, a "Golden Jet" in our Graveyard will be far from useless as "Chronomaly City Babylon" and "Chronomaly Crystal Bones" among other revival tools will constantly revive during late turns.
With an effect to increase the Levels of Chronomalies including itself, obviously "Golden Jet" has the primary objective of assisting our Extra Deck summons. With a Level 4 of its own, "Golden Jet" main focus will be arround Rank 4 and 5 Xyz Summons by working along the rest of the archetype. In most cases will setup our summons together with "Chronomaly Nebra Disk" thanks to its own revival effect, but we can expand our options with Tuners and Level 5 monsters such as "Cyber Dragon" even if "Golden Jet" is the only one increasing its Level. "Chronomaly Moai" is a particular member to work with, as either "Golden Jet" increases its Level before we Special Summon it or we play several copies at once and turn them Level 6 to Xyz Summon together. Finally there's the chance we can gather several copies of "Golden Jet", stacking their effects together for heavier Extra Deck summons. Remember that the ability of "Golden Jet" is permanent, so if the affected monsters Β (Including itself) survive the opponent's turn(s) we'll be able to further increase their Levels in our next turn.
Despite the simplicity of its effect, "Chronomaly Golden Jet" is a valuable monster for the archetype as expands their Extra Deck options. No matter if becomes a material or simply molds other members to the proper Level, "Golden Jet" is highly supported from early to late game to get us the perfect conditions for the Extra Deck summon we want. And although its main purpose will be Rank 4 and 5 Xyz Monsters, don't hesitate on working along high Level Chronomalies and/or other kinds of materials to further expand our options. Obviously with an ability that changes Levels including its own, "Golden Jet" is a monster highly dependant of other monsters and setups to achieve its main purpose. But fortunately has assistance in several aspects of a Duel to assure setups arround it, making "Golden Jet" more efficient than might apparent at first.
Personal Rating: A-
+ Increases the Level of all Chronomalies by one + Highly supported from early to late game
- Dependant of other monsters - Will exclusively work as material and/or assist other monsters with its effect
