Hi! :D This is a 3DS recommendation list directed at ChronicallyAce, but could potentially be useful for anyone who likes The Legend of Zelda and has a 3DS.

Starting information: There are several types of 3DS consoles you can get. I recommend getting a “New 3DS” system (if you can afford it - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Nintendo_3DS ). It has improved graphics and there are a few games that will only function on the “New 3DS” (rather than the regular 3DS or the 3DS XL or the 2DS).

So the first thing I recommend doing is signing up for "My Nintendo" if you haven't already, because you can get some cool Zelda (and other Nintendo related) downloadable goodies through them: https://my.nintendo.com . 

It's basically their rewards program and you can get discounts and fun little downloadable things through it. Zelda-wise, you can get a 30% discount on A Link to the Past (as a dl for WiiU and 3DS), a 30th Anniversary Theme wallpaper for your 3DS, three orchestra video dls for the 3DS of Zelda music, a Link wallpaper for your 3DS, and a Twilight Princess picross game for the 3DS. It takes a little while to save up the points, but only the discounts on software seem to change out. If you’re interested in decorating your 3DS with Zelda stuff, the Nintendo Badge Arcade app occasionally offers Zelda badges (you can get free badges through the practice catcher).

Games! Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask are both available as cartridges and as downloads. Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, A Link to the Past, Link’s Awakening DX, The Legend of Zelda, and Zelda II - The Adventure of Link are all available as downloads from the 3DS eShop. Unfortunately Minish Cap is only available for the WiiU (as a download). Triforce Heroes, A Link Between Worlds, Spirit Tracks, and Phantom Hourglass are all available as cartridges. Hyrule Warriors Legends is related to the Zelda series but is entirely different in terms of gameplay from the series as a whole.

Okay, now for some non-Zelda information/recommendations!

Fire Emblem - I enjoy the Fire Emblem series a lot! I suggest starting with Awakening and then moving onto Fates if you like Awakening. With Fates you can get a cartridge that includes both sides of the game. There’s another Fire Emblem 3DS scheduled to be released in May 2017. (I haven’t played any of the earlier entries in the series, but I like Awakening and Fates).

Pokemon - There isn’t really a reason not to just leap in with the latest (Pokemon Sun/Moon), but Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, and X/Y are available for the 3DS as well. Diamond/Pearl, Black/White, Black2/White2, and HeartGold/SoulSilver are all available on DS cartridges. There is also Pokemon Art Academy if you enjoy drawing as well as Pokemon Picross if you like picross puzzles.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D - This is one of those ones that requires a “New 3DS system”. Relatively standard fantasy game fare, but enjoyable.

Fantasy Life - If you like Legend of Zelda, there’s a reasonable chance that you’ll like Fantasy Life. It’s a little bit repetitive in places, but I find the crafting system to be a lot of fun.

Bravely Default - Another fantasy styled game that is a lot of fun. It also has a sequel, Bravely Second.

Animal Crossing New Leaf - Tom Nook is kinda evil, but a fun game in many ways. If you’ve ever played an Animal Crossing game before, you know what you’re in for. I wouldn’t bother with the Happy Home Designer spin-off. It’s okay, but nothing to write home about.

Harvest Moon - The Harvest Moon series is a little hit or miss on the 3DS. I’d give Hometown Story a miss and go for Story of Seasons and Rune Factory 4 instead.

If you play Kingdom Hearts,  358/2 Days and Dream Drop Distance are both available for the 3DS (358/2 Days was for the original DS, but original DS games work on the 3DS).

There are also some Final Fantasy games available for the 3DS and on DS cartridges, as well as spin offs like Final Fantasy Theatrhythm Curtain Call if you like rhythm games. (Rhythm Heaven Megamix is another good rhythm game that you can get as a dl.)

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney - There are a ton of Ace Attorney games. I really enjoy them, but it’s definitely a matter of taste. You can download the original Ace Attorney Trilogy from the 3DS eShop if you want to give the series a try. 

Professor Layton - Professor Layton is a cute series and is enjoyable if you like solving riddles and puzzles. The first in the series is Professor Layton and the Curious Village, though you can play the series in any order. There is also the Professor Layton Vs Phoenix Wright crossover if you enjoy both series.

Citizens of Earth - A silly and fun take on modern role playing games. Earthbound is what this game is somewhat spoofing, and it’s also available for download through the 3DS eShop.

what do i post about: My ships.  Initially it was mainly Sterek, have since moved onto Destiel because I just couldn’t cling to the trainwreck of TW any longer.  Social issues of varying sorts, humor, video games, comics, all things in-between.  But mainly Destiel and Supernatural now because I’m utter garbage 8D

do you get asks on a regular basis: Not a lot these days (probably because I mean to reply and then forget to reply AHAHAHA ANXIETY), but I still get the occasional one.

aesthetic: A warm teacup on chilled hands, overcast days, soft rain falling, big fluffy blankets, fall and winter, animals, blues and purples, the smell of books, the quiet of evening, the soft snuffles of my dogs,
