Christopher (2020) - Always liked the look of Darkhawk, but I don't recall ever picking up any of his books. Still, it was fun exercise trying to draw the character âş #ChristopherPowell #Darkhawk #NewWarriors #MarvelComics #Marvel #Comics #MCU #sketch #inkdrawing #JimCheung https://www.instagram.com/p/CGksurWDRYS/?igshid=1ff2kn18fc2v
So as I miss Chris Powell and the gang, I try to make a draw of the The Freshman suite...This is how I imagined it would be based on the few images of the game itselfđ
The Quarterback: Chapter Five (AU, Chris x MC, NSF*W)

Chapter Five: Bye Bye Baby
Chris stares at the photos she handed him in complete disbelief. He sits down shaking his head - he knows Becca is capable of many things but he never thought she could stoop so low.
âAre you seriously threatening to share a sex tape we made in my freshman year?â, he lays the photos on the table. âYou would expose yourself... You would allow everyone to see you having sex with me just to destroy any chance I have of a happy relationship? Or what is it that your twisted mind wants from me?â, he pinches the bridge of his nose, wondering what is going on. He canât believe he spent so many years with this woman and had no idea of what she was really capable of.
Becca smiles, âOh Chris, do you think Iâm this naive?â, she leans over the table, brushing her hand over his strong arms. âI was just trying to get your attention, silly! But now that I have you all to myself...â, before she ends her sentence Chris stops her.
He takes her hand off him, âYou donât own any part of me, Becca. Whatever you think you will accomplish with this talk, itâs not going to be us getting back together! This is finalâ, his voice is stern.
Becca stares at Chris, she can barely recognize his self-confidence, âChris, what is going on?â
âI hate your mind games. I hate that I needed so many years to break free from you... Iâm disgustedâ, he shakes his head, âTell me what do you want, is it money?â
She laughs, âMoney? Yeah, you stopped paying my bills... but no, I am not trying to blackmail you for money. Why should I do that? You will give me it anyway...â
âYou are delusional! I think you should go see a doctor... Iâm done with you, Becca. If you have anything to tell me I advise you to contact my lawyer otherwise I will call the policeâ, he gets up and starts making his way to the door.
âIâm pregnantâ, she says raising her voice, âAnd yes, Iâm sure... itâs yours!â
Chris turns around slowly, feeling as if he had been punched in the gut, âWhat are you talking about? The last time we had sex was like almost three months ago... and I always used protectionâ
âI donât need to explain to you how these things work, Chris. You are going to be a father, arenât you happy about it? We could stop this discussion and go home... you and me. Iâll take care of you, baby, Iâll take care of you real goodâ, she walks up to him, wrapping her arms around him.
He closes his eyes, pushing her gently away from him, âIf you are pregnant and in case itâs mine, I will take care of my baby but it doesnât mean that we will get back together, Beccaâ, he pauses, taking a deep breath, âWe are done! And donât you go to my house... I changed the locks!â, he turns around and leaves but before he walks through the door, she says:
âItâs not over until I say so!â, she yells.
ââââââ
An hour later...
The door bell rings and Laura hears urgent knocks on her front door. Itâs not so late but she is not waiting any visitors. She doesnât know what just happened or how Becca found them but she had to leave. She felt as if she was intruding, she felt like the other woman and this is not what she wants in a new relationship.
She gets up from the couch and walks to the door. Looking through the peephole she sees Chris and taking a deep breath, she opens the door.
âWhat are you doing here?â, she asks confused, âI thought you were with Beccaâ.
Chris steps towards her, âCan I come in?â, the tone in his voice is almost like begging.Â
âAre you sure Becca didnât follow you? I donât want more drama tonight, especially not in my home!â, she says nervously.
Chris nods, âYeah, I donât know how she found us but I parked my car on the main road and left my phone in there, just in caseâ. Laura steps to the side letting him in. He reaches for her hand and they walk to the living room.
âWould you like a drink?â, she asks as he sits down on the couch.
âDo you have Scotch?â, he sigh and she nods, âBring the bottle, we will need it!â.Â
Laura giggles, âI have a feeling we really will. But why donât we order something to eat first? You must be starving... I know I amâ.
âIs pizza okay?â, he asks  and she nods, âYou take care of the drinks and I will get us something to eatâ, he gets up, making a call and heads to the door. Thirty minutes later he is home with food from the restaurant around the corner. They sit down on the table and enjoy their food, having some moments of peace before Chris tell her about his talk with Becca.
After cleaning the dishes together, they head to the living room. Laura sits next to Chris and grabs his hand, giving him a squeeze, âSo, what is it you wanna talk about?â
âLaura... before I tell you what I got to say, I want you to know one thingâ, he takes a deep breath, âI really like you and I like the person I am when I am with youâ
She nods, looking at him nervously, âChris, you are scaring me... what is going on?â. He looks into her eyes and explains what happened at the restaurant after she left. He told her about the sex tape, the money, her pregnancy.Â
âI donât wanna hide anything from you, beautiful. I donât wanna have anything between us...â, he sees in her eyes how shocked she is, âPlease, say somethingâ.
Laura stands up, pacing in front of him, âA baby?!â, she stops in front of him, âAre you sure you are completely done with her? A baby... a baby is a serious thing, Chris. I donât want to get invested in this if there is any chance of you two getting back togetherâ.
Chris stands up, walking up to her and wrapping his arms around her, âI would never ever, not in a million years, get back with Becca. I know... if she is pregnant and if its mine, I know it wonât be easy on you, on us to have this mad woman in our lives but I want to reassure you that she is my past and I really want to have a future with you, Laura. I really doâ. She raises her head to look at him and he places a kiss on her lips, gently caressing her cheeks. âI would like for us to spend a couple of days in Napa, just you and me. Get out of all of this, what do you say?â
She raises herself on tiptoes and look deep into his eyes, âIâd like that... but I really want you to think about what I told you first. I donât have a problem with you having a child. But I really want you to think about everything...â
âI donât need toâ, he says and sighs, âBut okay... Iâll do this for you!â.
Laura takes his hand and he follows her upstairs, âI hope you donât mind to take the spare room for tonight?!â. She looks at him and smiles.
âI donât mind waiting for you... I know you are worth itâ
ââââââ
Sunday afternoon...
Chris looks over to Laura and smiles.
âKeep your eyes on the road, Chris! If I have to repeat it one more time, I swear I will drive to Napa myself!â, she says, giggling.
Chris lets out a laugh, doing as she said, âI had fun at your friendsâs engagement brunch but I am so looking forward to spend these days alone with youâ.
Laura smiles laying her hand on his thigh, âHave you thought about our talk?â
âI didâ, Chris turns into a dirty road, bringing the car to a stop. He looks deep into her eyes, cupping her cheeks, âI am here with you, am I not? Iâm not looking back, I am looking at you. You are what I wantâ, he smiles, closing the distance between them - Chris feels her breath getting closer and closer. As if time had stopped, he loses himself in her green eyes. Her warm lips touch his, hungry for the taste of him. His tongue enters her mouth, slowly moving, caressing hers. His hand runs through her hair, resting on the back of her neck, deepening the kiss. She nibbles on his bottom lip before pulling away.
She smiles and says, still with her eyes closed, âItâs official...You are the best kisser!â, she opens her eyes and brushes her fingers along his jawline.
âOnly because you taste so good...â, he turns on the car and they continue on their way to a winery hotel. When they arrive there, Chris takes her hand and they go to the reception, âGood afternoon, I have a reservation under the name of Christopher Powellâ.
The young man seems to recognize Chris and smiles friendly, âGood afternoon, sirâ. He check on the computer, âI see you booked two rooms for two nights, is it correct?â
âYes, it isâ, Chris puts his arm around Lauraâs waist.
âActuallyâ, she says, âWe are taking one room onlyâ, she glances at Chris and smiles.
The young man watches the glances between them and blushes, âVery well... you have the honeymoon suiteâ.
The room is large and in rustic Mediterranean style interior. There is an ample bed in the centre of the room with white bedding. The walls are beige and there are many wooden details. The is a full length mirror on the wall left to the bed. There is a seating area closer to the window and a bar cart.
As Chris walks in, he heads to the bar, âWould you like something to drink, beautiful?â, he says looking at the wine on display, âWhat about a glass of white wine?â, he glances back to see Laura in front of the mirror. He can feel the electricity in the room growing with excitement. Laura reaches behind her back and pull down the zip, wiggling out of the tight red dress. It slides down her legs and she steps out of it. Chris holds his breath as he sees her beautiful body for the first time. She reaches behind her back to unfasten her bra and he says, âLet me help with that...â. He walks behind her, easing it off her shoulders and breasts. She turns around to face him, âGod, you are beautifulâ. He grasp her panties by their waist and slide them down to the ankles, letting it fall. He reaches down and began massaging between her legs, her hidden lips between his thumb and middle finger. She places her hands on his shoulders and begins to softly moan. Chris feels the arousal taking over him by the feeling of her moisture in his hand. âOh baby, I want you so bad...â, he says.
âThen take me...â, she whispers and he feels his manhood poke against his pants. Chris picks her up and takes her to bed before hastily undressing. He gets on top of her, kissing her lips hungrily. He works his way down, kissing each inch of her body, making it his as if it was a new conquered continent. He gently spread her legs to reveal her swollen wet folds, lowering his mouth to it - she yells his name when she feels his tongue exploring every tiny space of her sex. âChris... I canât... I... donât want to wait anymore!â, she moans in between.
Chris smiles, heading up again, kissing her breasts, sucking on her nipples before kissing his way upwards. He reaches her lips, watching her as he slowly buries his 9 inches into her. For the first time he heard her cursing and he begins to pumping into her. It never felt this good with anyone else, he thinks. He buries his head on the crook of her neck and groans loudly, biting it gently. âThis is so fucking good, babyâ, he enjoys the sounds of her moans as the pace of his thrust increases - she presses her hips against him. Her walls begin contracting against his massive member and she turns her head to the side, moaning and screaming into a pillow. He pumps faster and deeper into her for several minutes until he finds his release. Chris falls to her side, smiling like a fool while trying to catch his breath. âFuck... I barely tasted you and Iâm already addictedâ, he turns his head to her and she smiles.
âGood because I want so much more of you...â, she gets closer to him laying her head on his muscular chest, still feeling the aftershocks of her orgasm. Suddenly Chrisâ phone vibrates. he reaches for it on the nightstand and sees a text:
âSorry to disturb your romantic trip. We have an appointment tomorrow. Donât you wanna hear your babyâs heartbeat? x, Beccaâ

Chapter one: Perfect Strangers
Chris runs through the terminal on the way to his gate. He wasnât sure about taking this flight; he waited until the last minute trying to decide what to do â everything is working out so well in his life but then there is Becca. He never meant their relationship to be serious, he never meant it to last but somehow, after spending four years of college together it just made sense to stay. Thoughts are running through his head, when he hears:
âThis is the final boarding call for passenger Christopher Powell on the flight to New York. Please proceed to gate 5 immediately. I repeat. This is the final boarding call for Christopher Powell. Thank youâ
Breathless he arrives at the gate and boards the airplane. A flight attendant brings him to his seat in the business class. He looks at the beautiful petit brunette sitting in the window seat. After storing his carry-on in the overhead compartment, he tries to get her attention:
âMiss?!â, he looks at her writing something in a notebook, âExcuse me, miss?!â, but there is no reaction. He realizes that she has her earplugs on and lightly taps her on the shoulder. She looks at him startled, taking her earplugs off. âIâm sorry. Can I help you with your bag?â, Chris looks at the black handbag that is laying on his seat and smiles friendly.
âOh⌠oh my gosh, I am so sorry! Yes, thank you so much, just let me get my laptop first⌠here you goâ, she smiles and Chris looks at her for a moment before taking her bag. Her smiles has a warmth that he canât quite grasp â itâs kind, gentle and captivating.Â
After closing the overhead compartment, he sits down and looks at her again, âIâm Chris, Chris Powellâ.
âLaura Davis, nice to meet youâ, Laura stares at him for a moment with a thoughtful look.
âIs something wrong?â, Chris asks.
âNo⌠but why do you look so familiarâŚâ, she shakes her head lightly, âSorry, I feel like Iâve seen you beforeâ.
Chris chuckles, âMaybe from the papers?! I play football for the Nightingalesâ.
Laura smiles and looks through the window for a second, âNope, thatâs not it. I wouldnât know, I am not a fan of football. Wait a minute⌠Powell, football⌠did you go to Hartfeld?â.
Chris lets out a laugh, âYes, are you stalking me?!â.
âOh please, you wish!â, she laughs, âNo, I went to Hartfeld too!â
âNow that you mention, I think Iâve heard the name Laura Davis somewhere!â, he stares at her. âWhat?! Of course⌠the valedictorian. Didnât you write a book with a professor? I didnât read it but I remember people talking about it!â.
âYes, thatâs me! For the book I tried to join the Kappa Phi Sigma⌠werenât you with Becca for a while?â, she smiles reminiscing about the time with professor Vasquez.
Chrisâ face falls by the mention of her name, âYeah, we are still togetherâŚâ, he looks down to his hands for a moment but quickly shakes the sad feeling away, âSo, are you still writing?â
âYeah, Iâm working on my second book. Actually, Iâm still putting my thoughts together, trying to get some inspirationâ, she turns to the window, realizing the plane took off already.Â
âSo, what is your new book about?â, Chris looks at her curios.Â
âAh⌠I donât know yet but itâs going to be a romance book with some drama and hopefully some adventures!â, she giggles. âI am actually flying for a meeting with my literary agent. And what are you doing in New York?â
Chris scratches the back of his head, something he always does when he gets nervous, âIâm going to have a talk with BeccaâŚâ, he presses his lips together. âTell me, Laura, you who knows so much about romanceâŚâ, he pauses.
âHey, I have never claimed I would, Mr. Powell!â, she smiles.
âWell, you have to...you write about it! So... When does your main character know he or she is in love?â, he chuckles, âKinda of a philosophical question, isnât it?â
âOh, you wanna go there? Alright⌠Tough question. I think itâs when they feel this unconditional feeling overcoming them and suddenly you accept that the other person has imperfections without thinking less of them; when they feel deeply committed to this other human being even though he or she may not feel the same; when they have many reasons to go but they choose to stay because a life without this person is no life at allâ, Laura looks at Chris, watching her attentively and she giggles. âI donât know⌠love is something you feel. When you know, you know, right?â.
Chris looks at her confused but smiling, âYeah, I guess you are rightâŚâ. He leans his head against the headrest, thinking about her words.
Laura opens her laptop and puts her earplugs on. She transfers the notes on her note book to her computer, adding a few other. Coyly she looks at Chris, who has his eyes closed and she wonders what his curiosity about falling in love says about him. She looks through the window thinking about it.
Chris opens his eyes and looks at Laura, thinking about what she said. âWhat if she is right? This is definitely not what I feel for Becca. Things with Becca are physical⌠I like to be around her but I canât give myself completely to herâ, he thinks.
He taps her on the shoulder again and she takes her earplugs off, âHave you ever?â, he says.
âWell, you will have to give me more information than that!â, she smiles.
He chuckles, âSorry⌠have you ever loved somebody?â, he closes his eyes shortly, âIs it too personal? Maybe you should just forget I asked you thatâŚâ, he shakes his head lightly.Â
Laura senses he is conflicted and takes his hand, giving him a reassuring squeeze, âNo, it is okay!â, she sighs, âI donât think I have, Chris. I got out of a relationship a few months ago because I wasnât sure and if you are not sure about it, then it canât be. I couldnât give him what he wanted⌠it hurts because I lost a good friend but he deserves someone who can love him trulyâ. Chris frowns. âDo you mind if I asked you why you have so many questions about love?â
âItâs Becca⌠she wants to settle down. Weâve been six years together and I understand where she is coming from. But I donât know⌠I see my friends getting married, building families and I also want that. I love my job, things are working out for me so it makes sense to settle down but I donât know...â, he leans forward and rests his head on his hands, âIâm sorry⌠you barely know me and you already know Iâm a mess!â.
Laura puts a hand on Chrisâ shoulder, âDonât worry about it. I canât tell you what to do but I think you already know what you want and what you donâtâ. Chris looks at her and she smiles, âSometimes doing the right thing is the hardest thing. But it is all in your handsâ. Chris smiles at her and she says, âCome on, let me give you a hugâ. Chris wraps his arms around her and closes his eyes. He takes in her scent and for the first time in the last 24 hours he feels some peace. âAre you feeling better?â, she says letting him go.
âYes, thank youâŚâ, he looks deep into her big green eyes and notices it has a deepness to it⌠âShe is so beautiful and I am here whiningâ, he thinks.
âGood, I hope you get it all sorted out soon, Chrisâ, she sighs, âNow, I gotta finish up a few things but whenever you feel like talking⌠just let me knowâ, she smiles.
Chris chuckles, âYou are so kind and I am just⌠well, thank you!â.
---------
After a long flight from California to New York, Chris helps Laura with her carry-on and they leave the plane. Chatting away about their experiences in Hartfeld, realizing they have been to the same places, sometimes hang out with the same crowd but they never met.Â
As they walk out of the airport, Chris stops in front of a black limo, âI have a driver. Can I give you a ride to Manhattan?â
âThank you but my agent is picking me upâ, she smiles. âIt was nice meeting you!â.
Chris gives her a hug, âIt was nice meeting you too, Lauraâ. He reaches in his pocket and hands her a card, âPlease, called me if you need anything⌠or even if you donât⌠we can grab a drink, if you want or just talkâ. Laura giggles at him nervously talking.
âAlright⌠Iâd like that!â, she reaches in her bag and gives him her card in return. âWhenever you need someone to talk toâŚâ. He looks deep into her eyes for a moment, feeling thankful.
âSorry, I gottaâŚâ, he points to the driver waiting.

Chapter Four: One Way Or Another
Laura jumps out of her bed and walks to the kitchen, holding her phone in front of her and staring at the screen. She turns on the coffee machine before walking to the front door to pick up the papers. It feels like a bad dream but it is reality... when she closes the door, she goes through the newspaper, finding the headline Chris sent her a few minutes ago.
âNo, no, no, no... This canât beâ, she shakes her head, feeling violated in her privacy. Laura walks back to the kitchen and sits down at the table staring at the photo - she knew Chris was a football player but she could never imagine people would be this interested in his love life. Suddenly she hears the sound of her phone ringing and sees Chrisâ name on the display.Â
âHey... I just saw it... I have the paper in front of me. This is crazyâ, she tries to breath deeply.
Chris hears in her voice that she is not doing good, âOh Laura, Iâm so sorryâ, he stops for a moment, shaking his head in disbelieve. âThis just started, it canât end like thisâ, he thinks. âIâm on my way to you. I got us breakfast and I donât want to leave you alone with your thoughts right now...â.
âOkay, Chris. Iâm waiting for youâ, she sighs.
âSee you in 5âł, he says.Â
Laura starts pacing, thousand things going through her head. She has worked in journalism and she is a writer that loves to read reports on her books but this is different, this is her private life, Â âI hope you get here soon because Iâm starting to freak out...â, she hangs up.
She  stands up and takes two mugs from the cupboard before heading outside to wait for him. It doesnât take too long and she sees his car driving up the drive way. He looks at her and smiles weakly, unsure of how she was going to react to what was happening. Taking a brown paper bag from the back seat, he gets out of the car and heads to the front door, âLaura...â, he wraps his arms protectively around her, pulling her closer to him. âLetâs get insideâ, he says and Laura nods, leading the way to the kitchen. Chris puts the bag on the table, âI didnât know what you like so I got bagels, muffins, croissants...â
âYou didnât have to come here with breakfast, Chrisâ, she turns around to face him. He walks up to her, taking her hands in his, âItâs just... I donât understand. Does this always happen to you?â
Chris looks at her and says, âI should have thought about it but I didnât. Becca made a media circus out of our relationship but I thought everything would come back to normal... I havenât been out with her or anyone else in mouths... I just...â
âThis isnât your fault, Chris. Itâs not only me on that photo, it is you tooâ, he embraces her and she puts her hands on his chest. Laura looks up at him and  he lowers his head to place a gentle kiss on her lips. âIs this always going to be like this? I donât know... This is not the kind of life I've planned for myself...â
He rests his forehead on hers, âAnd I love this about you because I donât want this kind of life either, all I want is for us to enjoy the time we spend togetherâ. He closes his eyes, âI donât want this to happen but Iâll understand if you think itâs best for you to...â, before he finishes his thoughts she says:
âDonât!â, she shakes her head and he opens his eyes, âDonât say that! Iâm not going anywhere because of a photo on the paper. I just donât want people following me on the streets because Iâm seeing youâ.
Chris smiles relieved, âGood, because I donât wanna stop seeing you eitherâ. He brushes a strand of hair off her face, âIâll see what I can do to protect you, to protect us from this mess. But just for now, what do you say? Can we just focus on breakfast? I hope you are hungry!?â
âStarving!â, she says smiling. She turns around and takes the mugs with freshly brewed coffee, putting it on the table. âSo, do you have plans for the weekend?â
Chris hands her a bagel, âYeah, Iâd like for us to go out on a date. A nice restaurant in a very private setting...â
âI like the Idea of a very private settingâ, she giggles. âI am asking because I gotta fly to San Francisco on Sunday, itâs just for the day but maybe you would like to come with me?â
Chris reaches out for her hand and brushes his thumb on her knuckles, âYes, of course! I havenât been there in a while but I love the city. So what are we doing there?â
âA friend of mine is having an engagement brunch. I mean, you donât have to come if you donât want to but I would like to have you thereâ, she smiles.
âIâd love that. You met my friends already and Iâd love to meet yours. I could pick you up on Sunday if you wantâ, he grabs a bagel from the paper bag. âI donât live too far from here so we could drive to the airport togetherâ.
Laura looks at him, âI was actually hoping you would want to spend the night...âÂ
Chris looks at her blushing, âHmm, erm, yeah... this works too. Hmm, I mean, if itâs no inconvenience or anything...â. Chris looks deep into her green eyes, smiling and taking a deep breath, âSorry, you caught me off guard... of course, Iâd love to!â.
âGoodâ, she stands up and walks up to him to sit on his lap. âListen, even though I hate that there are photos of us around the city, I really had fun with you and your friendsâ.
Chris puts his arm around her waist, âI also had a great time with you. I woke up this morning with my phone blowing up and I was so scared of what could happen. I wasnât sure how you would reactâ. He pulls her closer, âI donât wanna mess this upâ, he rests his head on her chest and enjoys this moment of peace, listening to her heartbeat.
ââââââ
On that Saturday night, Chris picked up Laura and drove with her to a nice restaurant in Venice Beach. He reserved the balcony to the inner courtyard only for the two of them, just to make sure nobody would take any photos. The table was decorated for a romantic dinner, there were flowers, candles and a champagne bottle waiting for them.
Laura looks at Chris and smiles, âWow... was all this your idea?â
âI just wanted to make this night special for you. You deserve this and so much moreâ, he  reaches out for her hand, âI like the person I am when I am with you, Laura. Everything feels so different, in a good way. You make me smile like a fool, you are so understanding and you care, you even listen to my boring stories!â
Laura laughs, âStop, your stories arenât boring! Iâm just still trying to figure out how football works... maybe we could watch a few games together before football season starts and you could give me a crash course!â
âThis is what I am talking... you are perfect!â, he stands up to kiss her quickly, âSupportive, kind and the most beautiful woman Iâve ever seenâ. She blushes, smiling coyly. They both hear foot steps and start laughing. Soon the waiter appear to collect their orders.
Watching him leave, Laura says, âAre you excited for San Francisco? We could do something after the brunchâ
Chris smiles widely, âI am but to be honest, I am far more excited about tonight...â
âYeah? What is happening tonight, Christopher?â, a familiar voice says from the direction of the door.
Chris and Laura turns their head to see Becca, staring at them. Laura looks away, feeling very uncomfortable with the situation.
âWhat are you doing here? Did you follow me? Did you put a tracker on my fucking car?â, Chris says unsettled.
âWrong questions, Chris. The right question is what is she doing here. Hi, Lauraâ, she turns her head to face her, Â âI knew I recognized you from somewhere the moment I saw that photo on the papers!â.
Laura looks at Chris, âI am leaving... talk tomorrow!â
âNo, no... Becca is leaving, you are stayingâ, his eyes pleading and Laura sits back down, âBecca, there is nothing for us to talk about, not now or not ever. You should go!â
âYou know what is funny, Chris. You fly out to New York to break up with me because I am âtoxicâ and you donât love me but I wasnât that bad when you needed a fuck, was I?â, she crosses her arms in front of her.
Laura picks up her bag and stands up, âI have to go...â. She glances quickly to Chris and heads out.
âWhat the fuck do you think you are doing?!â, Chris stands up ready to go after Laura but Becca stands in front of him, showing him some still images.Â
âRemember that night?â, she grins at him, âYou better sit down or everybody will get to see this, including Laura!â
Chris takes the photos from her hand, âYou canât do this... this was ages ago!â.
@nobounderiesplease I promised you a sketch of Chris a few days ago. This morning I sent you one I did in the tram but it wasnât so good so here is another one đŹđđđˇ I hope it put a smile on your face.

Chapter Three: Canât Get You Out Of My Head
Chris stares at the horizon enjoying the sound of the ocean... the relaxing feeling of the sand under his feet, the cool breeze brushing over his skin while the sun warms his body - ,Itâs nice to be back homeâ, he thinks. He grabs his phone from his jacket and goes through his photos, deleting each one Becca is on. Suddenly he finds one he took with Laura during their first date - he looks at her big green eyes and her beautiful smile, so warm and full of life. Chris is so lost in his thoughts that he doesnât hear AJ walking up to him.
âShe is pretty... who is she?â, she sits down next to Chris and he looks at her surprised.
âErm, she is a friendsâ, he smiles, âHow was school?â
âDonât change the subject, Chris. Tell me more about your friend, I saw the way you were looking at her!â, she teases Chris.
Chris blushes a little, looking back at the photo, âWell, I met her a couple of weeks ago but we went to the same college. She is friendly, kind and very pretty as you said...â.
âI overheard you telling mom that you and Becca arenât together anymoreâ, she looks at him and Chris looks back at her, âIâm glad, she is an awful person... she never tried to get to know me, all she did was to talk about her amazing life in New York and everything was about herâ.
Chris chuckles, âYeah, she was a little self absorbedâ.
âAre you dating this pretty lady?â, she glances once again over to see her picture.Â
He smiles, âOkay, AJ... donât you have homework to do? Do you really think Iâm gonna be here discussing my dating life with you?â
AJ giggles, standing up and looking at her brother, âWell, if you arenât, I think you should. You look cute together!â, she turns around and walk back to the new home Chris bought his mom, right on the waterfront.
He watches his little sister as she goes, shaking his head and mumbling to himself, âWhen did she get so big?â. He looks back at his phone and at their photo together and decides to call her. It takes a few seconds until she answers the call.
âHi there! I was already wondering why I havenât heard from you...â, she says on the other side.
Chris chuckles, âHi, Laura. Iâm sorry, itâs been a busy couple of weeks. My mother moved into her new house and I am in Maine trying to help her with everythingâ.
âOh thatâs nice. You are a good son, Powell!â, she smiles, âI have been busy as well, just finished my fifth chapterâ.
âWow, thatâs great! Iâm proud of you, we should celebrate somedayâ, he looks at the ocean before looking down, playing with the sand, âI was wondering about something... I got this charity event, more like a party, to go to in a couple of days and I would like to invite you to come with me as my date. What do you think?â
Laura takes a moment to answer, âHmm, okay...â, she says smiling, âI donât think I have any other place to be anywayâ, she lets out a chuckle.
âLucky me!â, he smiles, âSo, Iâm picking you up at 8pm. Is it okay?â.
âGreat, Iâm gonna send you my address then. Talk soon, Powellâ, she giggles.
Chris stands up and starts to walk back into the house, âTalk soon, Lauraâ.
ââââââ
Laura hears the sound of the door bell and heads to the door. She stops in front of a mirror checking if her make up is still looking good before opening the door.
âGood evening, Chrisâ, she smiles.
Chris jaw drops slightly by the sight of her in a a rose strappy satin mid dress with cowl neck and a thigh high split, âWow, you know how to dress to a party!â. His eyes sweep over her curves, stopping at her eyes, âSorry...â, he shakes his head slightly, âGood evening, Lauraâ.
Laura laughs, âThank you for the complimentâ, she looks at his car, âLetâs go?â
âYes, letâs goâ, Chris takes her hand and they head to the car. He opens the door for her before walking over to the drivers side, âSo, Iâm just giving you the heads up, my teammates will be there but we donât have to spend a lot of time with them. We can just say hi and go do our own thingâ.
Laura looks at Chris surprised, âWhy? I mean, sure if you want to but I donât see any problem in spending time with your mates. It will be fun, maybe I will learn one or two things about footballâ, she laughs.
Chris glances over at her surprised, she is so different from his ex. Becca would have been in a bad mood already just by the thought of sharing Chrisâ attention with other people. She wouldnât spend more than 5 minutes talking to his friends because she didnât like any of them and would be pissed if Chris went out for drinks with his mates. âI spent so many years with Becca that I started thinking her reaction was normal...â, he thinks. âSo, how's your day so far?â
âGood. I worked in the morning and then went for a run. Tried to catch up with my reading in the afternoon and then it was already time to get ready for this event. What about you?â, she looks at him and smiles.
Chris smiles back and then looks ahead, watching the road, âGreat. I had a conditioning session in the morning, went grocery shopping and thought about youâ. He turns his head to her and sees she blushing.
âYeah, what about me?!â, she looks back at him.
Cris moves his eyes to the road with a smile on his face, âAbout how beautiful you are and how you make me feel...â. He looks back at her noticing the surprise on her face because of his words, âOkay, we are hereâ, he stops his G-Wagon in front of the venue and the flashes of the press start firing. He walks out of the car, giving the keys to the valet, then he opens the door to Laura, taking her hand and walking in with her. âAre you okay?â, he looks at her, smiling.
âIâm great. People are really having fun hereâ, she looks at the crowded dance floor.
âYeah... Come on, I want to introduce you to a few peopleâ, he smiles, walking in front of her, leading the way. They stop at a VIP booth, where six big guys are chatting and having fun.
âPowell!!â, one of them stands up to greet Chris, âMan, I though you were not coming!â, he looks to his side and sees Laura.
âHey everybody, this is Lauraâ, he looks at her and she smiles, âLaura, these are my mates Jordan, Cam, Bass, Rick, Joe and Mattâ.
Laura smiles friendly, âHey everybody! What are you guys up to?â, she follows Chris to sit down with them.
âNot much, just talking shitâ, Jordan says looking at the other guys.
Bass laughs, âHe is only mad he lost a bet!â
âWhat was this bet about?â, she looks at the guys and they try to pretend they didnât understand, âOkay, guys stuff... gotcha!â, they laugh together. Chris holds her hand, entwining his fingers with hers.
âSo, where did you guys meet?â, Joe asks.
Chris looks at Laura and she gives him a sign to go ahead, âWe went to the same college. I heard about her and she about me but only really met a few weeks agoâ.
âOh, this is nice... so serendipitous !â, Joe says, âSo, have you ever seen him playing while at university?â
âI did indeed. Not that I understand anything about footballâ, she looks to the others, âSorry guys!â. She smiles and continues, âBut I did watch a few games. He was really good!â, she glances at Chris.
Matt smiles, âSo, will you be coming to our games if you guys get serious?â. Laura blushes.
Chris shakes his head, âSorry, Laura. These guys are idiots!â
âI need a drink, who wants one?â, she asks.
âAnd Iâm an idiot too... I shouldnât be spending too much time with you guys!â, Chris and the guys laugh shortly, âIâm sorry, I should have asked... â, he doesnât finish his sentence because she stops him.
âDonât worry about it. Iâm more than able to get a drink myself!â, she winks at him, âDo you want something?â.
âA virgin martini, please!â, he smiles.
âTwo virgin martinis coming up!â, she leaves the group, walking to the bar.
Rick looks at Chris, âThank God you are not here with Becca!â
âHe is right, and you know what. I like Laura. I have a good feeling about you two!â, Joe says, smiling.
Cam looks at Chris, smirking, âBoy and she is gorgeous!â. He draws her curves with his hands.
Chris raises a brow at him, âMore respect, please. This is my date you are talking about!â
âIs it serious?â, Bass asks.
âShe thinks itâs too early for me to start something but I hope it will become more serious in the near futureâ, Chris watches as she comes back with their drinks.
She smirks, âOh, this silence... what were you guys talking about?â. They all start talking at the same time, changing the subject and Laura laughs.
They spent the night having fun together. Getting to know Chrisâ mates and dancing until Chris noticed how tired Laura was and decided to drive her home. He stops the car in front of her house and walks her to the door.
âI had a lot of fun tonight!â, he says before she stops in front of her door.
She smiles, âMe too! Your teammates are fun, I like the guysâ
âAnd they liked you tooâ, he says looking around, quite nervously. âIt was nice seeing you again... I was wondering, can I... may I kiss you?â
Laura giggles, shaking her head slightly, thinking about how cute he is when he is nervous. She rises to her tiptoes, wrapping her arms around his neck, slowly closing the distance between them. Chris stared into her green eyes, taking in the scent of her fragrance, feeling his heart almost beat out of his chest. She stops closer to his lips, - so close that she could feel his warm breath on her skin. She smiles, feeling his hands going from her waist to the lower of her back, his fingertips digging into her, bringing her closer to him. Chris watches her facial expressions before closing the gap between them, feeling for the first time her sweet lips on his - gently at first but turning more urgent and passionate with time. As they pull apart out of breath, Laura says:Â
âWow... â, she looks into his blue eyes smiling.
âThis was... amazing...â, he chuckles.Â
Laura blushes, looking away, âI... I think I better go...â, she turns around to open her door. She feels Chrisâ hand around her waist again.Â
He lowers himself to her ear and whispers, âI need to see you again very soonâ.Â
She opens the door, turning around smiling coyly, âIâd like that... Good night, Chris!â
âGood night, Lauraâ, he watches her as she closes the door.
ââââââ
The next day, Laura wakes up early with the sounds of incoming texts. She reaches for her phone on the nightstand and sees Chrisâ name on it. She opens the text and reads:
âHave you seen the papers yet?â
âDonât freak out!â
âWe are everywhere...â
He also sent a picture from the LA times, where Chris holds Laura in his arms and they are looking into each others eyes, laughing. The headline says âStar Quarterback Newly In Love With Mysterious Brunetteâ
âWhat the...?â, Laura says staring at the photo of them together.
