I looked up to see a skeletal hand with a large hole in itâs palm reaching out for me. I grasped it, letting it pull me up. It belonged to a skeleton, dressed in a lab cloak with a black shirt and pants, which seemed to blend together and slightly pool beneath him. Two large cracks ran from his eyes, the right one being closed. His chuckle brought me back to reality, and his words crackled and broke â Oh dear child, you will have to practice a bit more before you can fly.â I coughed. âT-Thank you. Who are you?â I asked, surprised by my own voice. It was high pitched, but not as much as the other womanâs was. âOh, where are my manners? I am Dr. W.D. Gaster, but you may call me Gaster. And you are..?â I blinked âOh! Iâm⊠Iâm.. I donât know?â I sat down. What was my name? âOh, I can answer that!â a new voice rang out, the female one from before. I looked over at what appeared to be a hologram of a girl, short wearing the same hoodie as me. Her eyes were completely blue, and a small green hat floated over her head. Her entire lower half was nonexistent, replaced with a hazy blue cloud. She smiled â Sorry if I scared you! Iâm, well, you can call me creator or⊠Potato!â âPotato? I asked, wondering who would name their child that. âOh, thatâs not my real name, but itâs what I go by!â she smiled, pleased with her explanation. âOh, okay⊠Wait, you can read my mind!? I asked startled, realizing I never asked those questions aloud. âWell, not reallyâ she mused â basically, you are my physical embodiment! Meaning that I canât actually âbeâ here, so I created you to interact with this world!â I blinked, and then took a deep breath. âOkay, Iâm going to just roll with all of this; does that mean Iâm just your puppet? Can I even think for myself?â âOh no no, you are very much alive with your own thoughts and emotions, itâs more like⊠when a mother raises her child, she teaches them the principles that she learned and the rules and ideals that she follows. Thatâs basically what I did; I gave you most of the information I possess, and some of my opinions and emotions may have been passed on to you. However, you are your own person, with your own moral compass and free will. I canât change nor take that away from you. Not that Iâd want to!â She smiled, and I stared, taking it all in. âO-Okay, wow. So, why did you create me? Why am I here?â âSimpleâ she replied âI want you to save this world! I have seen this place and itâs inhabitants suffer for a long time, and I was able to do nothing. So I copied it and added you! The one with the power to save them for good!â She smiled, though it looked sad. Gaster looked away. âWhat do you mean, âfor goodâ?â She thought for a moment before responding. âThis world was governed by my world, by people with the power to control. They are called âPlayersâ. They are not bad; quite frankly, most of them want the best endings for the worlds they âplayâ. However, most worlds are stuck in a loop, being restarted over and over again for the Playersâ amusement.â She got quieter, looking at the ground.â I felt bad for the people here, so I decided Iâd make a world where there is no loop, and they would be saved for good. No more games, no more RESETsâŠâÂ
âRESETs?â ârestarting the world, or continuing the loop.â I nodded, taking in the information. She sighed, before smiling again. â Now! To answer some of your questions!â I thought for a moment, and came up with an important one.âWhat is my name?â She replied âyour name is ALBOET, which is an acronym.â âwhat does it stand for?â She thought for a moment, then spoke âThat will be revealed later, next question!â âHmmm, why is gaster here?â He glanced over, hearing his name. He was clearly spacing out before. âOh, thatâs easy; to break the space-time continuum, you need someone outside of it!â She smiled and put an arm over the goopy skeletonâs shoulder. âBesides, this guy often gets a bad rep on the internet, so I thought Iâd give him a nicer role!â She grinned, and the uncomfortable skeleton glided to the corner of the room. âOkay, last question, I guess; how am I supposed to save this world?â âOh, you just have to free the monster race without killing anyone!â She giggled, as if she just told me to go buy milk and the corner store. âW-What?!? How am I supposed to do that?!?â âSimple,â she said, âwith the powers I gave you!â And after she said that, she reached forward, her hand phasing through my chest. And she proceeded to pull my SOUL out of my chest.
