I looked up to see a skeletal hand with a large hole in it’s palm reaching out for me. I grasped it, letting it pull me up. It belonged to a skeleton, dressed in a lab cloak with a black shirt and pants, which seemed to blend together and slightly pool beneath him. Two large cracks ran from his eyes, the right one being closed. His chuckle brought me back to reality, and his words crackled and broke “ Oh dear child, you will have to practice a bit more before you can fly.” I coughed. “T-Thank you. Who are you?” I asked, surprised by my own voice. It was high pitched, but not as much as the other woman’s was. “Oh, where are my manners? I am Dr. W.D. Gaster, but you may call me Gaster. And you are..?” I blinked “Oh! I’m… I’m.. I don’t know?” I sat down. What was my name? “Oh, I can answer that!” a new voice rang out, the female one from before. I looked over at what appeared to be a hologram of a girl, short wearing the same hoodie as me. Her eyes were completely blue, and a small green hat floated over her head. Her entire lower half was nonexistent, replaced with a hazy blue cloud. She smiled “ Sorry if I scared you! I’m, well, you can call me creator or… Potato!” “Potato? I asked, wondering who would name their child that. “Oh, that’s not my real name, but it’s what I go by!” she smiled, pleased with her explanation. “Oh, okay… Wait, you can read my mind!? I asked startled, realizing I never asked those questions aloud. “Well, not really” she mused “ basically, you are my physical embodiment! Meaning that I can’t actually ‘be’ here, so I created you to interact with this world!” I blinked, and then took a deep breath. “Okay, I’m going to just roll with all of this; does that mean I’m just your puppet? Can I even think for myself?” “Oh no no, you are very much alive with your own thoughts and emotions, it’s more like… when a mother raises her child, she teaches them the principles that she learned and the rules and ideals that she follows. That’s basically what I did; I gave you most of the information I possess, and some of my opinions and emotions may have been passed on to you. However, you are your own person, with your own moral compass and free will. I can’t change nor take that away from you. Not that I’d want to!” She smiled, and I stared, taking it all in. “O-Okay, wow. So, why did you create me? Why am I here?” “Simple” she replied “I want you to save this world! I have seen this place and it’s inhabitants suffer for a long time, and I was able to do nothing. So I copied it and added you! The one with the power to save them for good!” She smiled, though it looked sad. Gaster looked away. “What do you mean, ‘for good’?” She thought for a moment before responding. “This world was governed by my world, by people with the power to control. They are called ‘Players’. They are not bad; quite frankly, most of them want the best endings for the worlds they ‘play’. However, most worlds are stuck in a loop, being restarted over and over again for the Players’ amusement.” She got quieter, looking at the ground.” I felt bad for the people here, so I decided I’d make a world where there is no loop, and they would be saved for good. No more games, no more RESETs…”
“RESETs?” “restarting the world, or continuing the loop.” I nodded, taking in the information. She sighed, before smiling again. “ Now! To answer some of your questions!” I thought for a moment, and came up with an important one.”What is my name?” She replied “your name is ALBOET, which is an acronym.” “what does it stand for?” She thought for a moment, then spoke “That will be revealed later, next question!” “Hmmm, why is gaster here?” He glanced over, hearing his name. He was clearly spacing out before. “Oh, that’s easy; to break the space-time continuum, you need someone outside of it!” She smiled and put an arm over the goopy skeleton’s shoulder. “Besides, this guy often gets a bad rep on the internet, so I thought I’d give him a nicer role!” She grinned, and the uncomfortable skeleton glided to the corner of the room. “Okay, last question, I guess; how am I supposed to save this world?” “Oh, you just have to free the monster race without killing anyone!” She giggled, as if she just told me to go buy milk and the corner store. “W-What?!? How am I supposed to do that?!?” “Simple,” she said, “with the powers I gave you!” And after she said that, she reached forward, her hand phasing through my chest. And she proceeded to pull my SOUL out of my chest.
