Choso sat in bed as he watched Satoru get ready for the night. His eyes trailed along Satoru’s bare back, his mind flickering to last night’s activities.
He felt a sharp ache in his chest when he thought about it.
Satoru had leaned into his ear and whispered a hasty, “I love you.” Choso questioned if he truly meant it.
When they first began dating, Satoru would accidentally call him ‘Suguru.’ He’d mention inside jokes between the two, then quickly realize that Choso did not understand.
Choso tore his eyes away from Satoru as he walked towards their.. Satoru’s bed. He felt the bed dip as the taller man sat down.
He desperately held onto the pillow beneath his head as he blinked away the forming tears. His heart hurt. It stung even more when Satoru wrapped his arms around him. He hummed in satisfaction and began pecking light kisses on Choso’s cheek.
“Please stop.” Choso mumbled. It was unlike him. He pretended to not enjoy the affection, but Satoru knew he did deep down.
“Huh?” Satoru let out, sounding like a complete idiot.
Choso stood up. His arms crossed over his chest and he had a pitiful expression on his face.
Satoru knew that look all too well. It meant he was close to crying. Choso was very open about his emotions—that was one of the reasons Satoru had grown to like him.
“Hey, hey.. what’s wrong? Cho. Don’t ignore me.” Satoru’s voice got a little firmer at the end of his sentence. It was the kind of tone he’d so rarely use with his students.
“What a stupid question.” Satoru scoffed. “Of course, I d-“
“I mean, really.” Choso clarified. “Do you love me? Please be honest, Satoru.”
Satoru was, admittedly, a bit offended. Did Choso actually think he didn’t love him? What a stupid thing to believe! Sure, maybe Satoru showed his love in odd ways, but it was definitely there.
“I do love you.” Satoru let out a huff of slight annoyance. “I can’t believe you’d think otherwise. You know, Cho, I think it’s really funny how-“
Choso almost immediately cut off Satoru again. He was the only person alive who could get away with that.
“Sometimes, I can’t tell.” He sighed shakily. “You confuse me with Geto all the time. A-and it hurts, Satoru.” The hoarseness in Choso’s voice embarrassed him, while it grated on Satoru’s nerves.
“You’re kidding.” Satoru deadpanned. “It’s just a force of habit! It’s not that serious, either, Cho. You’re just overthinking it, like you do everything else.”
They both knew that was both correct and incorrect.
“But, Satoru..” Choso trailed off. He couldn’t find the proper words to explain his thoughts. They were too jumbled up to really understand, anyway.
“Choso, baby, just come back to bed. I’m tired, you’re tired.. let me cuddle you.”
Satoru’s offer was awfully tempting. So tempting that Choso gave in.
A small, satisfied smile parted Satoru’s perfect lips. He admired the pout on his boyfriend’s face before leaning in. He cupped Choso’s cheeks and kissed him oh-so-tenderly.
He could feel Choso’s reluctance to kiss back. Satoru ran a hand through his brown hair to relax him. It worked, just as Satoru had hoped.
“Suguru is my past. You’re my present and future, Cho.”
He slid his arms around Choso’s waist once again. He pulled him closer, bringing him to his lap. He slumped down with the smaller man in his lap.
“Promise?” Choso’s voice broke the brief silence.
