Study Abroad Progress (ENG) - Jan 2020
So I haven’t touched my study abroad application for Chonnam National University in months but I looked at it today and it’s about half done. All that’s left is applying for scholarships, working out my schedule, like one or two essays, and getting my passport.
The essays and the schedule won’t be too hard to do, most of it can be done with the help of the international education office on campus and they are really nice. The thing I am worried about is getting scholarships.
I did the math and and a semester in Korea will cost me about 10K. With federal financial aid and my academic scholarship for my major I have a little over 7K covered, so it’s just the last 3K. Which is not as bad as it could be but it’s still a lot. So I have started saving at least 20 a month for it but I am also going to apply as many scholarships as humanly possible. There is one that’d be so great to get; it’s a scholarship from the Korean government that is given to two students studying abroad to Chonnam every year and it covers air fare, 500 USD (500,000 won) on arrival and gives you about 200 USD (200,000 won)a month for school supplies, books, public transport, eating out, ect. Like that would be so so perfect but I need to get and keep my GPA up and like it’s stressful.
But at least I have a plan and plenty of time to get my passport because that shit takes like 6-8 weeks.
