“A Home for Flowers”

Flower language is beautiful. Chiaki and Saku always wanted to learn about flowers and their meanings, since it seemed very interesting to them. They once passed by a vast field of flowers and decided to stay since they had pretty much nothing to do. Chiaki picked up an aster, specifically a red one, and gave it to Saku. Although he had no clue what it meant, he still admired it. Because of it, the two of them decided to start planting flowers. But Chiaki stopped ever since he got hospitalized, and Saku was the one who was taking care of them.

Every time he visited Chiaki, he would bring orchids and sunflowers; they were his favorite flowers. Chiaki wished he could grow Saku’s favorite flowers and give them to him on occasion.

He cherished it so much that he wishes that he could see those flowers if he ever passed away. He decided to keep them in a glass vase next to his bed.

The more days pass, the more the petals of the flowers slowly fall off. Saku wished the petals were still attached, but Chiaki reassured him that it’s fine since it normally happens.

Saku decided to visit him one last time, but once he opened the door, he saw that the room was completely empty and the flowers were all worn out. Chiaki wasn’t on his bed; his belongings were all gone.

He’s gone. Saku must have forgotten about that.

Sakura had her hands on her head, feeling the tears falling. When she came in her room, she didn't even notice that Chiemi was there.

"I just... I just wanted us to be friends... Why did it turn like that?! Why are they doing this?!"

She kept repeating the same words, over and over, without noticing the other girl coming to her. But she finally heard her voice.

"Sakura?"

Sakura lifted her head to Chiemi. She had her arms open.

"You can come here if you want..."

Chiemi was always like this. She could have just embraced her but instead she asked her if she wanted to be held, even in such a situation.

Sakura sniffled and hugged Chiemi who started to caress her hair and said :

"Tomorrow... Please tomorrow don't be mad at yourself for breaking down."

And these words were enough for Sakura to start crying.

She didn't understand why the guys acted this way to her. Why there were this constant tension between them and why each of them were adamant into staying alone with her.

All she know is that she didn't like that.

She didn't like that.

But she never said it. Because what if she was a bother?

She was being a bother right now, by breaking down like this right? By bothering Chiemi.

"I am... I am sorry...

_ I just told you to not be sorry... Give some of this kindness of yours to yourself, please."

Chiemi just held her like this as Sakura kept crying, unable to stop to apologize.

Chiemi would have some people to beat up tomorrow. But more than anything she wondered if Sakura could keep her kindness while not being taken advantage of anymore.
