Hi, everyone! I am running a sticker fundraiser for CHIRLA, The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights! From now until June 23rd, 2025, you can pre-order my TWST stickers on my online store to raise money! I'll post what we raised after the money has been donated! My Store
TAG member Ray Mendoza Landa (@raydiosilence) gave me permission to post this charity fundraiser campaign! Please share if you can!
I have been organizing a charity fundraising campaign titled Artists for Immigrants. This charity campaign will fundraise money for The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), a nonprofit organization that provides essential legal services and advocacy that safeguards immigrant rights. This event is in response to the injustices that are currently impacting our beloved Latino community across the country, including imprisonment without due process and racial profiling. To support immigrant rights advocacy, organizing, and defense, myself and 20+ participants have banded together to raise funds for CHIRLA through art commissions. Along with the charity campaign, we will be building up to a live, 12-hour charity art stream on Saturday, August 9th, from 10am to 10pm! The stream will spotlight several artists throughout the day while they illustrate commissions and help raise additional funds. During the live stream, we will also share resources on how viewers can help and support their immigrant communities as well as showcase why diverse voices are so important. Commissions are now OPEN! To request a commission from any of the participating Artists for Immigrants, please check out their announcement post. Donāt forget to like and share as well! The undocumented migrant community in the United States is using social networks and other digital platforms to send alerts about raids and
The Coalition forĀ Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (Chirla) estimates that in recent days, around 300 migrants have been detained in California as part of raids carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in compliance with an order issued by the Trump administration.
This figure is based on collaborative reports compiled by the Rapid Response Network, an alliance comprised of dozens of organizations that provide support to migrants and disseminate information aboutĀ immigrationĀ detentions andĀ operations.
Angelica Salas, director of Chirla, described the raids as a phenomenon ānever seen beforeā in the three decades she has been defending migrant communities, according to statements reported by The Los Angeles Times.
Jorge Mario Cabrera, spokesman for the same organization, told the EFE news agency that most of the detainees are not criminals, āas the US government has tried to portray them.ā He indicated that most of those arrested are workers from Los Angeles, although arrests have also been documented in other parts of the state.
In the midst ofĀ intense protestsĀ against Trump's immigration policies, these operations are expected to continue in Los Angeles for at least 30 days, according to US representative Nanette Barragan, citing data provided by the White House. Likewise, an escalation of these actions is anticipated nationwide, after the administration announced its goal of making up to 3,000 arrests per day.
Several migrant-rights organizations have warned about possible violations of due process of people targeted by ICE. They have denounced ICE for restricting access to detainees on multiple occasions, which could limit their right to adequate legal representation.
Watching ICE
This situation has generated concern among the undocumented population, most of whom are of Hispanic origin, which has intensified the use of social networks to alert people about the presence of immigration agents in different regions of the US.
In a search conducted by the WIRED en Español team, several groups and pages were identified on digital platforms dedicated to receiving, verifying, and disseminating reports about ICE checkpoints, patrols, and raids. The origin of these profiles is diverse: Some are managed by well-known nongovernmental organizations and activist collectives, while others were created by private members of the migrant community.

July 1st, 2019 Los Angeles, California
3 days away from American independence celebrations.
There are no celebrations in front of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Downtown Los Angeles. Instead, a peaceful protest and vigil for the 24 immigrants who have died in ICE custody under the Trump Administration. On pace with the 75 immigrants who died in custody between 2009-2016 as reported from multiple human rights watch organizations. āICE Killsā one sign reads.
Just 1 of the 12 activist groups claims to have gotten 1,137,000 phone calls. That's a whole lot. The Pew estimate was that there were over 2 million illegal aliens in California. We can safely say that number is nonsense.
