Okay okay I'm rereading Chilling reflections which OBVIOUSLY means I need to obsess over all the details I've missed
Sticking it under a read more bc y'know SPOILERS for both Chilling Reflections and Villains Vignettes
Little new yearâs gift, mostly bc I forgot to post this on Christmas
Tachyonic
First of all; I love Villainsâ Code. I love the increasingly ridiculous dynamic between Tachyonic and Hephaestus. And I adore the moment in Chilling Reflections when the security suddenly stops shooting at Hephaestus at she turns to see Tachyonic casually leaning against the wall with zero fear of her. Kyle thinks heâs so cool in that moment for stopping the security measures with his mere presence and acting all friendly with the âvillainâ whoâs been weirdly helpful in the past. Meanwhile, Tori just thinks heâs an idiot for assuming sheâs not a threat. Like, âheâs right of course, but he doesnât KNOW that!â. Itâs so funny! Second of all; You donât realize how vague a book description is until you try to draw it. The entire description of Tachyonicâs costume was basically âblueâ. So I had to design this super suit, which I imagine you can clearly see is not my forte. So, uh⌠yeah. That exists now. Third of all; Short hair is evil to draw. Specifically masculine haircut kind of short. Anything chin length or longer is simple. Itâs heavy enough to be bound by the laws of gravity and I know exactly where each hair is going. Down. Even if you get a full âfro that doesnât really obey gravity, you still know where itâs going. Everywhere. I can figure out braids, buns, etc. But short masculine hairstyles? I have no clue what the heck any of those are doing. Nor do I know anything about different masculine hairstyles. So basically, if youâre wondering why Kyleâs hair is still in pencil when everything else is colored, itâs because I havenât the slightest clue how to draw anything on his stupid head that doesnât look ridiculous.
I havenât posted like. Any art for the past month so.
not enough energy for image ids, heads up.

I wonder if Tori is some flavor of genderqueer. I get that the Hephaestus misdirection is deliberate, but she gets "he"d so automatically and consistently, and never seems to get a twinge of discomfort from it. Add in that when she went to Magical Halloween Town she not once, but twice, costumed herself as male characters without missing a step...
(Doylistically it's almost certainly a matter of a cis author who hasn't contemplated what gender means to his characters, but Watsonianly, I have to wonder.)
Villain's Code fandom where the HECK are u i just finished book 3 and im losing my mind a lil
