Chillin with Photogs- one of the most frequent questions I get is, "Jason, do you make more money teaching or shooting? And why do you take the time to teach so much?" There are many answers here. *One, I LOVE teaching. Honestly seeing the light turn on for someone when they learn something new, or learn that ONE BIG THING that has stopped them from progressing is just magical to me. *Two, teaching affords me the lifestyle that I envisioned with this job. I didn't leave my lucrative hotel job just to be burdened down by client demands where I don't get to set my schedule. I still love doing client work but I purposely limit how much I take of it because no matter how you slice it, paid client work relinquishes your schedule. You aren't choosing when or how you work, you are working off client demands. With teaching I get to decide where I go, when I go, and who I share those experiences with....if that isn't the dream I don't know what is.... *Third, surrounding myself with photographers just never gets old. I honestly love kicking it with all of you out there. Yes so many of the questions are the same at my different events...but my answers are the FIRST TIME you will have heard them. So while it may be familiar to me, it's unique to you...and I never forget that. *Lastly, it's all about relationships. I have some amazing clients...BUT, the lifelong relationships that I've made over the years have ALL come from my teaching endeavors. I met my best friend for life Vanden King at one of my first workshops 7 years ago. I've have shared so many hugs, tears and laughs with so many people from around the world that it has truly impacted me as a person. I wouldn't trade these experiences for any other job...
