OK Let’s see how thoroughly I can recount this lol

1 October 2013: I made my tumblr and entered the TD fandom, but wasn’t important. I just reblogged some stuff.

Late January 2014: I make fun of a post saying that the TD tag should be a ‘safe space’ because I think it’s ridiculous to expect a tag to be a safe space. I don’t actually remember what this person wanted to be safe from at all, so can’t make a commentary on that.

Anyway apparently that upset her because I said that so she made posts like ‘how does it feel to give a 13 year old mentally ill girl anxiety???’ and I was like um it feels like not much really since I don’t know you. And then everyone else was mad at me for pissing off some random 13 year old. Her blog disappeared that week but I THINK she made new ones and renamed them frequently. So I actually don’t know what was her and what wasn’t because she changed names like more than monthly.

The bigger characters like chefhatchet and tortelani and winner challenged and all them caught wind of me and decided to call me trash idk, probably because I wasn’t a feminist. I didn’t say a whole lot of inflammatory things surpringly, although I made a few sarcastic comments about how I didn’t know we lived in an oppressive patriarchy.

I attempted to be chill in the periphery of the fandom for a bit, but a comment about Jo’s gender ambiguity got called transphobic. LOL then I guess Lightning’s entire relationship with Jo is transphobic because he doesn’t realize she’s a girl all series.

ANYWAY there’s a big piece of the puzzle I didn’t mention: my ol pal Cherri. Now Cherri was the biggest pariah in total drama. Apparently she made a confessions blog that allowed confessions about not just the show proper, but other fans. Although it turned out she did have a hand in making the blog, the other users decided to devour her immediately, and she loved to rag them on too because who wouldn’t? I decided well, these guys hate me, so may as well buddy up with Cherri, and we used to message each other to bitch now and again. Cherri doesn’t go on anymore, but her blog is still up.

There were a bazillion other hate blogs that I didn’t keep track of after that. The fandom kept blaming Cherri for them even though it wasn’t her other than the first time. Then there kept being more random people that popped up for the rest of the fandom to pirhanna, most of the time it was just people being dicks and deliberately saying “”“problematic’”“” things to get noticed. Other times it was just people who made the mistake of not hating Mike.

One thing I really don’t remember though is why winner challenged starting being the #1 person who didn’t like me. I don’t remember when I first encountered him, there’s just a lot of mutual disdain the origins of which are nebulous. It’s kinda funny actually.

That still doesn’t excuse telling her “STFU YOU BITCH”, “NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR IT.”, “NO ONE WANTS YOU HERE.” and other stuff like that for EVERYTHING SHE POSTS. She’s even made posts that don’t deal with anyone in the fandom and don’t even deal with the fandom and she’s gotten stuff like that for it. It’s no wonder, she feels the way she does. I bet anything that if she made a post that just said “I like carrots”, she’d get bombarded with replies telling her to shut up or whatever.

THAT’S what I’m trying to get. Because practically everyone was hostile to her, she was constantly on edge and I can vouch from experience that when your on edge you’re bound to react badly to something that shouldn’t get it.

There’s been times when I’ve been so mad, so upset, so scared over something that I lash at my folks or friends or even my boyfriend despite them having done anything to deserve it. But unlike other people on here they never got back at me for it. They never treated me badly in return like Cherri has gotten.

They instead understood that I was on edge for something else and they either changed the subject to help calm me down or talked with me about the problem and if they’re part of it they listen to my side of the story then think everything through before giving a reply.

That’s how I was to Cherri. I talked to her about other things. Things that didn’t deal with Total Drama. I listened to her side of the story, I let her vent when she needed it and I gave her A CHANCE. Not many people did that. Many were just quick to assume things which lead to them constantly blaming her for every bad thing that happened in this fandom.

Many never really bothered to listen to her and give her another chance. I did and that’s why I became her friend. I was willing to do the two things that hardly anyone else in this fandom was willing to do for her and now because of this treatment she got, because many wasn’t willing to listen to her, weren’t willing to give her a chance, I could lose her forever.
