may i suggest the fact that in season one, cooper appears to always desperately cling to his chems and always huffing some of them, most of them and like he's on the edge of relapse if he doesn't but for [first season two episode of] the trip with lucy to new vegas, some of the scenes with him using them are so. sparse. and not really the focal point of him or his experience in the scene. just kinda there. but really, one scene, the one where they are in vault 24 and realize vault tec was presumably brainwashing american citizens to be communists, he takes a puff from an inhaler and i almost wonder if he needed that hit for a little cope more than ghoulification stability. because the experiment in this vault is dark. and has many implications--- we could chalk the relaxed type of chem use by cooper up to the super duper mart cache, he has enough now. [after the poison river bait situation] but also. i'm just thinking about how, despite budding heads, lucy is actually quite pleasant and relaxing to be around. sometimes. and maybe... to the point where he doesn't need the chems like he thinks he does. idk, i've just been thinking and his chem usage took a backseat for an episode and i wanted to read into it a little too much goodbye
