Shippers get a lot of lashings for being annoying and āforcing romanceā but not enough is being said about people who force the nuclear family structure on everything. Nothing against found families, but the amount of people who seem to cram every dynamic into a cookie cutter nuclear family mold is driving me insane. Itās another lowkey reductive way of engaging with characters that pretends to less reductive than the shippers they constantly complain about. Not every relationship can be categorized as āsibling codedā or āfather-daughterā because most relationships are more complicated than that. Donāt even get me started on the way these people use ācodingā *cough* their headcanons *cough* to shut down ships they dislike.
