In defense of Lucy ending things with Harry, it wasn’t love, and I don’t believe she sabotaged this relationship/business deal. The argument is “But he was going to propose! And he’s well off, so she wouldn’t have to worry about money anymore!” and it proves Song’s point. It almost sounds like the audience completely forgot that Harry admitted that he’s horrible at love and possibly believes that he isn’t capable of love. After I’d come out of the movie theater, I thought “Wait, if he didn’t believe that he was capable of loving, why would he marry Lucy?” I believe it’s because she had said she would marry the next guy she dated and Harry was that guy. It didn’t matter if he loved her, Harry had assumed she’d stay because that was the “deal.” He never thought she’d leave because she accomplished her goal—to date a wealthy guy. Harry wasn’t expecting to need to open up to her; if he had, he would’ve told Lucy about the leg surgery or how his luck with women used to be awful. How is marriage the “next step” when he hadn’t even learned the basic: trusting one another.

Summary: you live in a different country than the USA (in Europe) and Chris comes and visit you after London. 

Your in your living room your laptop on your coffee table you sitting on the floor trying being productive. You already had 4 cups of coffee today but a 5 one doesn’t harm anyone. On your way into the kitchen your doorbell rings. You put your mug on the counter in your kitchen and make your way to your door. It’s not like you were expecting anyone and after seeing yesterday’s evening that Chris is in London and don’t even say anything. Not only did he not tell you that he was going to be in Europe, no he also risks his health. And you can’t have that. After seeing the picture that the paparazzi took you were heartbroken. Yes no one knows that you two are together but still. And yes you know that it isn’t what it looks like but still. Trying to make yourself as presentable as possible for the person on the other side of the door. But of course you know that half a minute doesn’t repair what is happening to you right now. Okay let’s face it we are in the middle of a pandemic and you basically got your heart broken last night because your stupid boyfriend is not able to call you and tell you that he is going to London he even could have texted you but no, no you had to find it out by scrolling trough Instagram. Anyway. Opening the door.

“Hey hun” it’s Chris. You’re standings at the door. Looking like you didn’t sleep for the last 3 days and lived in the same clothes for at least 2 weeks. But yeah the man of your dreams your boyfriend is standing at your door with your favorite flowers in hand looking as sexy as always. You forget how to breath and that only 2 minutes before you hated his guts. But now that you see him you think about how cut he is with his Rosie cheeks and that beard and those plump lips. You take him by the hand and go in to your living room. “First of all thank you” you take the flowers out of his hands. “Second of all why didn’t you tell me that you would come here?” Chris looked lost. Like he didnt know if he should be happy that he could see you in person again or if he should be guilty because you t took him so long to see you again. His hand is scratching the back of his neck. Clearly nervous. “ surprise”. You couldn’t take it any longer. He clearly just wanted to make you happy. You put your hand on his chest got on your tippy toes and kissed him long and hard. Going without his touch and kisses for over 3 months was just to hard.
