After a few hours held up in my La Pensione room I was slightly peckish and craved a small bite before I called it a night. I actually took it upon myself to go out into the evening to see what my satisfy my desire for a evening snack. I saw Filippi’s crowded across the street and against all odds to secure a table there I somehow managed it. I have a long established relationship with Filippi’s going back to the early 90s when Tracy and I would go there for a romantical dinner that usually included Filippi’s pizza. Because it’s a combination of deli and restaurant we’d stock up on the Italian pasta and high quality olive oil from Italy. I had just done that earlier in the day after my walk. I felt a sense of mission to have a delightful truly Italian dinner. I got the Chicken Parmigiana dinner. Once my waiter told me everything that came with the dinner I knew I’d be boxing things up for latter. Filippi’s was slammed but evidently found room for everyone. I ate my salad, minestrone soup and half of the garlic bread. I had part of the chicken parmigiana and cheese ravioli then boxed the rest. It was both nostalgic and comfort food reminding of my history in San Diego, my relationship with Tracy and my king fondness of Little Italy.
