#check marks

I can't find a single post that explains everything about those badges clearly, so here you go.

1 purchase/gift is 1 badge. 1 badge consists of 2 check marks. You cannot display just one check mark. You cannot choose which colors to display. Each new badge shows the next two colors of that pre-set pattern, from left to right. You need to purchase/be gifted this badge 6 times total if you want to get the whole rainbow row (which consists of 12 check marks). These badges are permanent and non-refundable.

Fun fact: The check mark badges (the blue ones too) can also turn into the crab badges.

2 orange crabs for the two blue check marks badge and 2 rainbow crabs for the 2 rainbow check marks badge. This happens on random days and lasts 24 hours.

Crustacean chaos in question:

The reason that @staff 's most recent and hilarious venture (read: two meaningless checkmarks that might be crabs) works so well, isn't just because they tapped into our desire to be obnoxious.

Tumblr has never had any sort of verification status. Wil Weaton, Neil Gaiman, and Lynda Carter are here, and we know they're here. (Madona is too iirc, but she doesn't seem to participate in the community the same way the other examples do)

They provide verification the same way that redditors do when they host an AMA. They just give evidence that they are who they say they are, and we're like "cool" and that's it!

So when Tumblr introduced their checkmarks and implemented them pretty much EXACTLY like Twitter did, it wasn't changing a pre-existing function of the site. On Tumblr, celebrities are part of the community. They're someone you can tag and expect a response like 20% of the time.

Unlike Twitter, where there seemed to be a divide between verified users and regular ones.
