When I was a child we’d play a game of hypotheticals.

“If there was a fire, and you could only grab 3 things what would you grab?”

This hypothetical scenario always assumed that all loved ones (including pets) were already safe from the fire.

When you’re young it’s often silly things you would grab. A teddy bear, a bottle of perfume, your favorite book— Easily replaceable things. When you’re a kid you’re not thinking about what could be replaced and what couldn’t. You would just grab the things you liked.

That was the point of the game. To get you thinking about expendability vs value. What was important material wise and what was not.

As an adult value changes.
