Mountains are among the most sensitive ecosystems to climate change and are being affected at a faster rate than other terrestrial habitats. This sculpture is using imagery taken at the Austrian alps to document the glaciers receding over time. As climate change creates a rapidly warming planet, new snow melts at a faster rate than it can be replaced, speeding up the deterioration of the glacier.
For this sculpture the artist Helena Chastel transfers images onto the surfaces,Β The work generate a connection between the natural world and these solids, and how they relate to what is happening on our planet today.
