Exactly! Actually I read on some interview where he has said it was in his plans since the beginning of the series. People who assume that they did this because of Bellarke's popularity, are in a way, insulting the creators of this amazing show.

yeah, like Jason even said Finn's death was planned way before season 2 started and he does not strike me as someone who'd give in to what the fans want, he's way too stubborn for this
