Miller-Storm Company Building Address: 12007 Linwood Built: 1927 Architect: Charles Noble In the 1920s, Detroit experienced growth in population unprecedented for any metropolis, due to the prosperous automobile industry. This was the beginning of the American middle-class as we would come to know it. Beautiful, tree-lined neighborhoods began sprouting up all over the city. George W. Miller & Arthur S. Storm started their construction firm in 1921, with the intention of building homes to accommodate this growth. By decade, the two men decided to build a new headquarters at the intersection of Linwood and Elmhurst. The 3-story, Tudor Revival building was referred to as “The Home of Homes". Architect Charles Noble was among Detroit’s most active architects during this era. The Lee Plaza on West Grand Boulevard, Kean Apartments on East Jefferson and the Elwood Bar on East Adams in downtown Detroit are just a few of his works. After Miller-Storm vacated the structure in 1931, it went through several incarnations. Today, the building is known as Elmhurst Home, a men’s treatment facility for substance abuse and related issues. #Detroit #Westside #DexterLinwood #TudorRevival #ArtsandCraftsArchirecture #CharlesNoble #archi_ologie #oldhouselove #casasecasarios #houses_ofthe_world #beautifulhouseoldandnew #TheAmericanHome #houseportrait #BrickStory #RawDetroit #PureMichigan #PureMittigan #MotorCityShooters #PureDetroit313 #DepictTheD #VisitDetroit #Michiganders #ThisPlaceMatters #ThisPlaceMattersDetroit #MichiganPlacesMatter (at Elmhurst Home, Inc.) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2E5c2nFWt6/?igshid=zl7l25z7qwg3
