Ah, good ol' Pikablu. I remember thinking how awesome Tracy's Marrill was back during the Pokemon anime, since that was back when Johto was being teased as a concept but they hadn't released all the games or given a full idea what the entire new clutch of Pokemon would be. I also was one of those kids who wasted SO MUCH TIME trying to do all those fake "cheats" and "tricks" to try to unlock things like Pikablu, Charcolt, the Pokegods, etc. in Red/Blue. Good times.

I came across a panel from the Pokemon comic that made me think of the REEALLY old rumors of the Pokegods. The panel featured a Bulbasaur gazing up at what looks like a giant Venusaur made up of vines and leaves. I don’t actually know the context to this image but it immediately made me think of the Pokegod Sapsaur and I had to color it in and share it with you people here.

I like the idea of one ancient Pokegod Pokemon. An aged Venusaur that the forest has claimed. It’s body slowly transformed by the plant growing within it. Forever wondering, like a walking forest. It’s something out of a Miyazaki film. 

It makes me think, how would Charizard and Blastoise (...or Charcolt and Rainer -- pictured below) would look like if their PokeGod forms resembled something like this. Perhaps Charizard’s flame would take it over and we would have some sort of flaming dragon or a Blastoise riddled with barnacles, looking like a shipwrecked boat? 

Does anyone remember the Pokegod rumors? I sure as shit do. It's pretty vivid. I was on the playground, watching a few friends trade Pokemon on red and blue when I over heard a group of younger kids say something about Pokegods. We made fun of them because it sounded silly (we were kids) but after school i immediately looked it up on the internet. 

When dial-up internet was the way to go and fangame websites weren't a quarter a dozen, the naivety of new information onlookers was at an all time high... I was one of these onlookers. All this information! Why would it be fake! I'm looking at a screenshot right now!

...it has to be real! 

Above are pictures comparing the old Pokegods rumor to the current Pokemon X,Y Mega Pokemon evolutions. It's obvious there is no connection between the two, but it's awesome to imagine. It seems so far-fetched now, but at the time I was convinced it was true that there were Pokegods!

I'm just glad I lived long enough to see the legend come true... well, almost...
