Physical Characteristics

Hair Color: Naturally dark purple with light purple, sometimes dyed rolanberry red at the tips

Eye color: ‘Aether Blue’ (they’re not actually aether blue but the unusual color of her eyes prompted her elders to call them this, proclaiming it a mark of an unusual gift)

Skin Tone: copper with cool undertones

Body Type: athletic, lean, wiry

Accent: educated Lominsan, mostly. Sometimes speak very elaborately but other times speak in metaphors, hyperboles and swings very hard into ‘sailor drawl. ’While speaking Doman, she’s more careful, exacting and formal with her words.

Dominant Hand: Right, mostly but she can use both

Posture: Impeccable, commanding, stiff, straight back - sometimes. Other times, sassy, lounging, strut

Scars: One across the bridge of her nose from childhood nonsense, some scars on her feet from the same, some burn marks on her abdomen from cannon fire accident, a long rope burn around her leg from when she got tangled in the mast upside down

Tattoos/Piercings: (I see tattoos as being less permanent in Eorzea due alchemical cheats but they don’t just wipe off either) On her cheeks and around her eyes. She has also has a brace of body tattoos on her left side/ Earrings

Most Noticeable Features: her naturally purple hair draws curious eyes (and hands, like they can touch a color)

Manner of Birth: She was born on a clan ship. Her small size and lack of screaming made her then-living parents and clanmates anxious but apparently, the rocking of the ship soothed her

Siblings: technically she counts all of her agemates/those in her ‘passel’ as siblings and those kids not in her passel as cousins. (I am reasonably sure she does not have any birth siblings)

Parents/Guardians: Hamayo, acted as both mentor and mother, but most of the clan looked after the kids.

 When I started it was on the free trial; no Au Ra available. But I designed her with ‘she’s an Au Ra in a glamour’ in mind. That’s the out of universe reason why she has pale, pale blue/green eyes and purple hair. She also originally had blue lip paint but I dropped that and her Au Ra complexion was planned to be blue. Her current complexion is not because character design but personal preference.)  I intended to fantasia to Raen Au Ra once I hit Stormblood but somewhere along the way I took too many screenshots and got too attached to hyur!Suzune so… I decided she was always Hyur. (it’s lucky I don’t rp with anyone lol).

Also she’s Doman (or is just Othardian/from the Far East/that cultural sphere?) but next to other Domans looks nothing like them - hair, eyes, complexion. In character she’s apart of another ethnic group, the Seruki who managed to escape imperial reprisal due to their smaller, elusive numbers. Natural purple or blue tints in black or brown hair are common to the Seruki the blue eyes that occur are said to common to those with spiritual gifts, relating to the One River (on which they lived, fished from and sailed), the aether and the spirit world. I once thought to change her eye color but again I got attached to her ghostly eyes. (though I might darken them slightly)

Incidentally Tansui of the Confederacy has the same complexion and hair tints as Suzune; they even had the same hairstyle at the time (to my outrage). In-universe, the Confederates briefly confused Suzune and Tansui. I am still not sure if they just share a common culture or if they are more closely related.

Further, originally, I was going to have her come from the Fanged Crescent, the mountains of Othard so I could headcanon about Eastern Highlanders but I had a huge void of ‘how did she get from Othard to Eorzea in recent years?’ and the process ended up tweaking her backstory so she’s been in Eorzea from childhood and she was on a ship to Lominsa from the Cieldalaes.
