'Sup. Welcome to my FFXIV sideblog for hoarding ideas, brainstorming, rambling about my ocs and headcanons and ffxiv thoughts. Sometimes it's an aesthetic blog (aes.img). My main is @themirage-prismatic, cause I've been on tumblr forever but I treat THIS blog like my main... I was born last century. This blog is SFW but might be 21+ with occasional spiceness. There was a whole discussion about this in my discord, i don't feel like writing right now but interestingly, Cloudtop and Ishgard has the same aetheryte shape as the Alliance cities but Falcon's Nest has a more "Northern" look. (Northern not Dravanian because Gyr Abania which is also in the north has the same model)

is an old pre-Calamity aetheryte. these models use to be all over (lower) Eorzea.

There use to be aetheryte camps where these were but the same models were also in cities.. I can only assume that lower Eorzea - Gridania, Ul'dah, Lominsa - had smaller aetherytes and upper Eorzea always had the bigger ones, making the Northern aetherytes older. Therefore, the post-Calamity aetherytes must be based off the upper Eorzea ones. Cloudtop is new so it has a new aetheryte but Ishgard and Falcon's Nest have two different aetheryte models... I can only assume that two different Ishgardian aethersmiths were at work; maybe an old resident of Falcon's Nest before it was a military castle did it.
