I’ve had to type this all out & make this list like at least 5 times because Chrome kept crashing it. It drove me insane.. Anyways! I personally don’t have any “favorite” backstories. I usually use the plot of the group/1x1/etc to inspire what character I create. However, I do have a few questions that I always ask about a character when I’m first starting to create a character:

   1) What is their relationship with their parents/family?    2) How do they feel about love & relationships?    3) Do they open up to people easily? Why or why not?    4) Is there anything that they resent or regret about their past?    5) If they had to describe themselves using any 3 words, what would those words be?

You can answer those questions as simply or as in depth as you want to. Those are usually just stepping stones I use to take me deeper into the character. Here are some resources that others have created that might help you as well:
