Changing Gears
Lately, I have been on a wonderful cooking spree! And to be honest, I am loving the enthusiasm and momentum coming with it.
So donuts have been on my list for quite some time now, and I thought I should try out the jam donut, cause they looked delicious. Coincidentally, it is also the strawberry season, so a delectable strawberry jam would go well with it, I thought.
So after work, I came home and around 8 30 ish, I started preparing for the donuts. The strawberry compote turned out really well, the fragrance, the consistency, and the colors. The dough though didn't rise. And I felt my confidence fall into the pit of my stomach. So upsetting.
But then, I had to make something of the dough balls. So I remembered, that we have dish called Buns, from Mangalore. So I tried to replicate it. And guess what??
The dish turned out to be beautiful golden bhatures! :P My mom's first reaction was I do not have to make breakfast in the morning. Despite the setback, I felt like things suddenly changed gears, and well, it turned out to be something else.
Also, I realized how much energy I have when I am doing things I love. I finished up, cleared the kitchen, and completed one work-related task. And then sat down to pour my heart out on this amazing story. I am actually secretly happy that the bhatures are so beautifully golden brown :)
I still am upset that the donut failed. But I learned so many things along the way. I fried for the first time, and the bhature actually turned out gorgeous! And so did the jam :) Sure, the expectations were something else, but today I definitely had an adventure with this :D
Imma try again :D I am happy :)
