So far this week is off to a good start. Yesterday afternoon myself and one of the other interns Sabrina created two different postcards for two trade shows that are coming up.

One of the trade shows, CGTA, is August 7th - 10th at the Toronto Congress Center. Approximately 16,000 buyers attend this show to preview, browse, and buy the latest trends, home decor, jewelry, and much more. We will only be bringing one of our lines to this show, Schwiing - a line which targets both young and mature women. Check out their website here: http://www.schwiing.net/

The second trade show that we have coming up is The Profile Show, once again held at the Toronto Congress Center. This one runs from September 10th - 13th and we will bringing the majority of our lines with us including:

The Profile Show is open to the general public and will have men's, women's, young contemporary & junior labels, children's and lifestyle brands. Since we are bringing so many lines with us, this show is a much bigger deal. There will be tonnes to do, and so much to learn. Let's just say the end of August and beginning of September are going to be busy, busy. Especially with school starting around there too.

Trabajadores metalúrgicos, del transporte y otros gremios declaran paros para los días 15 y 16 de Mayo, en razón de las quitas zonales y el no reconocimiento de la antigüedad por transferencias de empresas. Los obreros mecánicos realizaban una asamblea y son reprimidos, defienden sus derechos en una verdadera batalla campal en el centro de la ciudad el día 14 de Mayo. Los atropellos, la opresión, el desconocimiento de un sin números de derechos, la vergüenza de todos los actos de gobierno, los problemas del estudiantado y los centros vecinales se suman. Se paraliza totalmente la ciudad el 16 de mayo. Nadie trabaja. Todos protestan. El gobierno reprime. En Corrientes es asesinado el estudiante Juan José Cabral. Se dispone el cierre de la Universidad. Todas las organizaciones estudiantiles protestan. Se preparan actos y manifestaciones. Se trabaja en común acuerdo con la CGT. El día 18 es asesinado en Rosario, el estudiante Adolfo Ramón Bello. Se realiza con estudiantes, obreros y sacerdotes tercermundistas una marcha de silencio en homenaje a los caídos. El 23 de Mayo es ocupado el Barrio Clínicas por los estudiantes y son apoyados por el resto del movimiento estudiantil. El 26 de Mayo el movimiento obrero de Córdoba resuelve un paro general de las actividades de 37 horas a partir de las 11 horas, para el 29 de Mayo, con abandono de trabajo y concentraciones públicas de protesta. Los estudiantes adhieren en todo a las resoluciones de la CGT. Los estudiantes organizan y los obreros también. Millares y millares de volantes reclamando la vigencia de los derechos conculcados inundan la ciudad los días previos. El 29 de Mayo amanece tenso. Los trabajadores de luz y fuerza son atacados con bombas de gases a la altura de Rioja y Gral. Paz. Una vez más la represión está marcha. Las columnas de los trabajadores de las fábricas automotrices llegan a la ciudad y son atacados. El comercio cierra sus puertas y la gente inunda las calles. Corre la noticia de la muerte de Máximo Mena, obrero mecánico. Se produce un estallido popular, la rebeldía contra tanta injusticia, contra los asesinatos, contra los atropellos. La policía retrocede. Nadie controla la situación. Es el pueblo. Son las bases sindicales y estudiantes que luchan enardecidas. El apoyo total de la población. Es la toma de conciencia contra tantas prohibiciones. Nada de tutelas ni usurpadores del poder, ni de cómplices participacionistas. El saldo de la batalla de Córdoba, "El Cordobazo", es trágico. Decenas de muertos, cientos de heridos. Pero la dignidad y el coraje de un pueblo florecen y marcan una página histórica argentina y latinoamericana que no se borrará jamás. En medio de esa lucha por la justicia, la libertad y el imperio de la voluntad del pueblo, sepamos unirnos para construir una sociedad más justa, donde el hombre no sea lobo del hombre, sino su hermano.

"Nuestras clases dominantes han procurado siempre que los trabajadores no tengan historia, no tengan doctrina, no tengan héroes ni mártires. Cada lucha debe empezar de nuevo, separada de las luchas anteriores. La experiencia colectiva se pierde, las lecciones se olvidan.

La historia aparece así como propiedad privada cuyos dueños son los dueños de todas las cosas. Esta vez es posible que se quiebre el círculo..."
