I believe it was you who asked me if a life of nothing but moment to moment survival and continuation was even a life at all?
If what you say about your past world is true, then I doubt you were alive Jaze. Little friends, no family, you don’t even know if they would mourn you…
I believe that at this very moment, in a world as dangerous as this, you are truly alive…
You have friends, people who care for you and your well being. If you were to die, you would be mourned, of that I can guarantee…
There is an entire world for you to live in here, it may not be the most hospitable, but it has everything you need to truly live life…
Perhaps it is better not to mourn that which never was, and to instead focus on creating a life that’s worth dying for…
Heh, I… appreciate the sentiments, truly. But I can’t simply kill my past. We are, each and every one of us, the culmination of our choices, our mistakes, and our scars. To deny that, to deny my studies and work, would be to abandon what makes me who I am. Embrace history and step into the future, or entrap yourself in a cycle of emptiness and degradation.
I’m not the sort to abandon my convictions, nor force others to do my job. I’m no politician, I’m no king, and I’m certainly no God. Can’t afford not to clean up my messes. So I’ll make it back.
One day.
