Holy Cow!
This past weekend, Ian and I conquered one of the most sought after hikes here in Bariloche. After many weekends of promising ourselves we would do it and essentially just sleeping in, we finally did it!Â
The climb started out pretty freakinâ steep but I just assumed this was to get into the mountain and it would flatten out soon. Was I wrong! I say 2/3 of this hike was an up hill battle...on rocks. Only about 45 minutes from the top did it flatten out and by this time my legs were jelly and we still had to come down!Â
The whole trip we experienced some incredible views. Now these are some sights I had kinda seen before from observation points around the city but none this high or amazing!Â
Along the way we found the Black Rock! Luckily itâs not the same one as in Lost, phew! This was a bar in the middle of the mountain! Pretty cool and I thought we would stop on the way down for a mid hike drink...haha good one me!
We finally saw the the pink house, not Casa Rosada in BA, but the refugio! There are many hikes in Bariloche called âRefugio plus the name of the mountain,â this one was Refugio Lopez.Â
We reached the top!Â
Spent about an hour or so at the top and we were ready to make our decent! Couldnât be too bad right?Â
Wrong.
Going up is hard and I know everyone says coming down can sometimes be harder, well this was MUCH harder! I am SO happy I didnât do this hike alone or else I would have moved in with the ants on Cerro Lopez. I got stuck a few times, may have shed a few tears (i said may, i didnât say it actually happened...) and saw some cows along our hike down.
Where did they come from and how did they get there?! Actually come to think of it, we did see giant heaps of poo along our way up. Itâs all making so much more sense now!
Here is Ian getting abducted by aliens!Â
Kidding about the aliens but how crazy are those sun rays!
Finally made our way down the mountain and accomplished it all in just under 6 hours! Amazing day, not for my toes but for my brain and soul!Â
