Worldwide 780 million adults in 2012 were illiterate. That's more than double the size of the United States. After school Julienne must help at home as well as do her homework in the room where she sleeps with her five siblings. Her stepmother, Agbesse, regrets that she didn’t have an opportunity to go to school. Michel, Julienne’s father, is a farmer and taxi driver who does not have enough money to support Julienne’s tuition.
