Our featured partner of the week is the Happy Kids Center. 

Five years ago, Nepal was hit by a dreadful 7.9 earthquake that demolished the city of Bhaktapur. The aftermath of this event was worse, the sight of children begging for food and water in the streets. 

Happy Kids Center was formed when Joanna Contat, Kevin Mumford, Chris Love, and others dedicated their time and energy to bring back Bhaktapur’s stability. In the slums of this city, they focused on working with children and improving their living conditions. Children in Bhaktapur worked to survive and to provide for their families, so the volunteers had a goal to give these children a new future. The Happy Kids Center started in 2016 as a “semi-permanent structure designed as a fun-filled, safe environment for children,” especially during the hard times in their city.
