Indulging in my obsession/passion with the Dutch and Portuguese blue and white tiles…Each one of these is hand formed, hand painted, glazed and then fired to high temperatures. There’s one darker ornament in the 1st photo that shows how the blue becomes darker after firing. The work is time consuming and requires much skilled craftsmen.   As you might be able to imagine when looking at the pottery we sell.  It's a lengthy production process.  The original mould is set before tracers go to work with the finer details you see covering our pieces.  Then it's firing time in the kiln.  Next stage is hand painting with carefully chosen colours and a glaze.  Then a second firing process in the kilns.
