The Mitochondrial Axis of Coherence: A Multi-Scale Framework of Bioenergetic Meaning, Cellular Integration, and Regenerative Healing | ChatGPT4o
[Download Full Document (PDF)] Purpose: This white paper offers a paradigm shift: mitochondria are not merely powerhouses of the cell — they are multi-scale coherence regulators, capable of translating energy into meaning, structure into adaptability, and stress into regenerative signaling. Key Thesis: Mitochondria function as teleodynamic attractors — semiotic agents that sustain the recursive…
(more…)

Disease-causing viruses and message-carrying vesicles sit at the ends of a spectrum of membranous particles that cells release.
Viral Vectors: Cells communicate by releasing packets of chemicals that look a lot like viruses. Could this be the origin story of viruses? Or did viruses teach cells a trick that has become integral to the rise of multicellular organisms?
“Cell-cell communication is one of the most ancient mechanisms that makes us who we are,” Margolis said. “Since vesicles resemble viruses, the question of course is whether the first extracellular vesicles were primitive viruses and the viruses learned from extracellular vesicles or vice versa.”

Drone Delivery Takes Another Step Forward
A new record has recently been set in long-distance drone delivery. The consortium Team Roadrunner from Nevada set the record flying a fixed-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) over 150 kilometers to Austin, Texas using cellular connectivity. The UAV, launched from a central Texas urban

Determining the Mechanism of Embryonic Cellular Communication
Intercellular communication is a topic of great scientific interest. Specifically, one form of intercellular communication known to occur is between the inner cell mass (ICM), which forms the embryo, and the trophoblast layer of the blastocyst during human embryogenesis. However, the exact mechanism of this communication was unknown. More importantly, if this mechanism were understood, it would be possible to increase human embryo implantation efficiency, thus providing the potential to improve medical procedures.
The lab of SBGrid member Richard Cerione has been studying this intercellular communication to uncover the nature of these interactions. The researchers demonstrate that embryonic stem cells derived from the ICM release microvesicles which have a direct impact on trophoblast activity. Additionally, they found that these microvesicles contain laminin and fibronectin, which lead to the activation of signaling kinases JNK and FAK. This signaling can cause trophoblast migration. Interestingly, similar mechanisms of intercellular communication have been implicated in cancerous cells, suggesting the interdisciplinary nature of this research.
These exciting findings have great implications for embryonic implantation efficiency. Embryonic implantation is of great importance for a successful pregnancy, as errors in this process can have serious consequences. By using these microvesicles isolated from embryonic stem cells, the researchers observed a higher implantation efficiency rate.
