Myouren Temple Combat and Compassion Commemoration Festival!
The head priest of the Myouren Temple, Byakuren Hijiri, is hosting a month-long festival to celebrate the art of combat and warfare to honor the grace of Bishamonten. Events include children’s games, prayer services, and the main attraction: contests of strength and wit.
Outside the Myouren Temple, there will be a kiosk with small forms on counter and a box. Fill out both your identity and the one you wish to challenge, adding mutual restrictions as desired, and we will relay your request. Any request to challenge any of those residing under the roof of the Myouren Temple, including the head priest Byakuren, will have added incentives, from offerings of knowledge to small treasures. You need not win to receive these, only participate.
All fights will take place within the shrine on a raised square platform sixteen meters across on all sides. Viewings of the challenges are free of charge, though a liability waiver must be signed for those choosing to watch from the arena’s edge.
To any and all wishing to watch and participate, I wish you the best!

CREDBC reports on the size of the oil revenues from Norway and Alberta. One has amassed a sovereign wealth fund with more than $905 billion and the other has $17.5 billion. Guess which one is in Canada?
Even more disturbing news to consider is that some Canada has no Federal equivalent to the Norwegian fund.
Where did all those funds from oil go exactly?

Million dollar homes dressed up with shuttered windows may be the emblems of Vancouver's increasingly pricey housing market, but they're not the cause, with the city's non-occupancy rate for single-family homes at just one per cent and holding.
The Vancouver Sun reports;
The vacancy rate in Vancouver for single-family homes, duplexes and row houses is only about one per cent, and that rate has been static since 2002, according to the report. Meanwhile, the combined vacancy rate for condominiums and purpose-built rental apartments is 7.2 per cent.
That number is in line with the findings of a 2013 study by the Urban Futures Institute, which put unoccupied apartments in Vancouver at 6.2 per cent on 2011 Census day.
Apartments, Single Family Dwellings and Duplex Housing Units make upover 95% of the CoV’s housing stock.
In a city where the rental vacancy rate is less than 2% we have more than 7% in high density dwellings sitting empty?
When young and old are driven out of a city because they can no longer afford to work there, but are caught in the middle of bind because they also cannot find work elsewhere, then we are creating a society based on haves and have-nots.
Some questions to consider;
How can we find better community first based solutions to such problems?
Why is housing so expensive in the Vancouver?
What are the contributing factors?
Where can government decision making and bureaucracy be streamlined?
Without good questions, without asking the right questions to the right peoples at the right times and at the right places we cannot arrive at the right solutions.
The BC Government recently proudly announced that will be spending $335 million to build 2000 low income housing units over 5 years. While this drama plays out over the course of an election cycle we ask our readers to just do the math and then ask some pointed questions.
The amount proposed of $335 million divided by 2000 units = $167,000 per housing unit. Now compare that to other housing options that could be done for a fraction of the cost and at the same time create employment and growth outside the core cities of Vancouver and Victoria.
A tiny home can be bought and installed for less than $50,000 per unit. A savings of one third per unit. And if container based housing was considered as they are doing in the UK to address similar demographic pressures then the price per unit can be reduced even further and a fraction of the cost the BC government will be spending.
It is a shame that our bureaucracy does not live in the real world, but rather in the world of election cycles and photo-ops. Real Solutions are needed for Real Problems. Being fake is boring and has past its time.
