anyway my fascination with bodysharing and the blurry line between body horror and body worship also, as everything always does in my life, boils down to caves. bear with me here. a major component of this whole concept between body horror/worship is the idea of like, the innards of your body. your organs. the things inside, the intricate systems of this biological machine, hidden away by your skin. in everyday life you really don't think about your organs or your blood or the chemicals and electric pulses running through your brain that keep you alive and functioning. when you look in the mirror, all you see are the external bits. the same can be said of the earth, where the average person only looks at the outer shell, the external biosphere. but what of the caves beneath its surface? inside of you there are organs and complex pathways of neurons and veins. inside of the earth there are cavities and complex pathways of tunnels and seams and cracks. hidden away by the crust, just as you are hidden away by your skin. a body is a cave and a cave is a body
