“Why should we date?” “Because we are attracted to each other.” “I am attracted to pie, but I do not feel the need to date pie.” - Stiles & Dean
Stiles slides into the booth across from Dean and grins at him. Dean stares at him and man it’s a good thing one of Stiles’ types is unimpressed resting bitch face. Or a bad thing. Depending on who you ask he supposes.
“Shouldn’t you be bothering my brother?” Dean asks, beer bottle halfway to his lips. “Plotting to overthrow the world or something?” Dean takes a couple drinks of his beer and Stiles holds his gaze. “Well?”
Dean slowly sets his beer bottle on the table and blinks a few times like he’s trying to get his brain to come back online. It’s kind of adorable.
“Uh.” Dean clears his throat a couple times before cautiously asking, “Why should we date?”
Stiles has thought about this. Like a lot more than he probably should have considering he’s not a pining teenager anymore though no one ever needs to know just how much he’s thought about it. But it’s not like anyone who knows him at all would really be all that surprised by the whole thought about it way too much thing. It’s kind of his shtick after all.
He smiles sweetly. “Because we” —he gestures between them— “are attracted to each other.”
Dean blinks at him a few more times. “Yeah, well, I am attracted to pie, but I do not feel the need to date pie."
That was definitely not the response he expected and even Dean’s little grin and wink combo before he finishes off his beer doesn’t quite manage to snap him out of his surprise.
“Okay one: you did not deny being attracted to me but I’m gonna put that one on the back burner for a moment. Because two: when you say you are attracted to pie do you mean like an aesthetic type thing or like you wanna take the pie back to your place and make sweet, sweet love to it?”
“Wow. Okay.” Jo sets a fresh bottle of beer in front of Dean and grabs his empty one. “Jot that down as something I never wanted to hear ever in my life and I pray to whoever might be listening that I never have to hear it again.”
Stiles does not jump out of his skin at Jo’s sudden appearance and once upon a time he would be embarrassed she heard him say that but he’s had more than a few years of practice with saying stupid things in front of other people without meaning to. He’s never really had the best brain-to-mouth filter and he’s kind of gotten used to it at this point in his life.
“Hi, Stiles. Can I get you anything or are you just here to discuss Dean’s apparently intense feelings about pie?”
Stiles opens his mouth to respond but Dean gets there first. “Hey.” Dean points at Jo. “I don’t kinkshame you. You don’t kinkshame me.”
Jo props her hand on her hip and raises her eyebrows. “I don’t have any—”
“I will not hesitate to call Charlie and put her on speaker and some days she has even less shame than I do.”
Jo glares at Dean. “You’re an asshole.”
Stiles listens to them bicker back and forth until Jo gets called away back to the bar and Dean leans back into the booth with an easy grin on his face. He’s loose-limbed and relaxed and just so unfairly attractive that Stiles can barely stand it.
“So,” Stiles says and he does not melt when Dean turns his attention back to him and that happy shine in his eyes doesn’t fade when their gazes meet. He does not.
Okay maybe he melts a little.
“If I said that I am willing to share your affection and attention with whatever pie you have seduced would you agree to date me?”
Dean studies him as he takes another drink of his beer and Stiles simply stares back at him. He can be patient when reward is worth it and the chance of dating Dean Winchester is definitely a reward worth being patient for.
“The minute you get jealous of the pie you’re out.”
Stiles rubs his chin like he’s thinking it over. “I think I can handle that.”
“Alright then.” Dean shrugs and drains the rest of his beer. “I’ll pick you up tomorrow at five.”
“It’s a date,” Stiles says.
