we can build ourselves up back and stronger, brick by brick ! but i can't do it alone !
Catherine Wright is the mother of Jackie Sparrow
She was born into a high class family. Think Swann level or perhaps just a bit below, but they are wealthy.
When she was around ten, the family had squandered a lot of their money. They still had enough to live off of were her parents not more interested in looking wealthy and high class than providing for their children.
This leads to her father getting involved in criminal activity for money. This includes dealings with pirates and other equally disliked people.
It goes well for about a year, before he is caught. He and the family end up moving to Tortuga to prevent too many consequences, as no one on the right side of the law ever travels there.
Her life is pretty shit. Sheâs provided for, financially, but Tortuga isnât a good place to grow up for a young girl. Many men are willing And she is still expected to act as a proper young lady should.
She is supposed to dress, act, and talk as if she were still in high society and not the daughter of a criminal. And her family does love to spend beyond their means, which means sheâs not getting out any time soon.
She grows into an extremely repressed teenager in a place where the men are drunk and the women prostitutes. Not safe, in a bad area, and still expected to act as if she had the prying eyes of the public.
At sixteen, she meets an eighteen year old Jack Sparrow. Unlike the men she has become accustomed to, he isnât a bastard towards her. He talks to her and they become acquaintances. As time goes on, âWith benefitsâ is added.
They never truly become friends, but certainly know one another.
Whenever he stops by Tortuga, they enjoy sex. Heâs her rebellion, her escape from everything.
Because of this, she begins to fall in love. But she also knows he does not reciprocate her feelings(truly unrequited). This hurts, and sex makes it worse, but she refuses to stop.
She believes, âI will take what I can getâ and continues, despite knowing how it hurts.
The relationship continues like this, and she slowly becomes resentful. Sheâs hurting, but refuses to do anything to help herself.
Eventually, Jack stops showing up. This is either due to picking up on her romantic intentions, or because heâs simply busy. Jackie was conceived around the time he recruited Hector, which I see as almost immedietely after the Wench becomes the Pearl.(I had to mess with timelines and curse time, but canonical events and stuff arenât changed), which was his last time visiting.
Pregnancy makes things worse. Sheâs unsure if Jack even wants the baby and sheâs a single mother. Not only that, but she isnât a prostitute and refuses to become one, even if it were an option(she canât because sheâs pregnant, refuses because some of her parentsâ views were passed down). Cathy isnât even getting paid for this shit!
In an attempt to get some help, she asks her parents(and younger sister since she still lives with them) for assistance. Sheâs denied, as her child will be a POC(headcanon I have for Jack is that heâs biracial, but it isnât really a be all end all thing for me) and a bastard.
The hardships, as being a single mom is difficult even now and sheâs lost her only support, are causing her to resent the fetus inside(please bare in mind, abortion was not an option in these times).
She ends up taking a page out of her fatherâs book and, while about three months pregnant, pays a sailor to help her find Jack. This is to no avail and the pregnancy continues.
The day she gives birth, it is relatively no issue. There were no complications and things went as expected. The baby ended up being a girl, whom she promptly named Jacqueline Sparrow for proof.
The Pearl shows up for a few hours later, and she attempts to flee with her newborn as she hears bloodshed, knowing Jack is not the captain anymore and is most likely dead. The babe is a newborn, and of course, begins to cry.Â
Catherine had meant to hide until this was over, so she could make her way to a dingy. Unfortunately, she fails to quiet the child down, and thus fails to hide as well.
Barbossa is the one to find her, and in a last ditch effort to save her own skin and get rid of her little bundle of resentment, she tries to trade Jackieâs life away in exchange for being allowed to live.
Catherine is stabbed.
Does she join the Dutchman? Or does she simply bleed out as she watches the immortal, recently cursed bastard of a man steal her daughter?
I am unsure, as her story ends here. The same place her daughterâs begins.
Look at the difference between Catherine and Jackie(and the little bow, my heart)
BOOKS I READ IN 2017 â until it fades by k.a. tucker
He grins sheepishly. âWhen I went home that night, I told my parents that I was madly in love with this brave and beautiful woman who saved my life.â Oh my God. My heartâs beating in my throat. âOf course they convinced me that I was completely overwhelmed and that I needed to get some rest.â âIâm sure they were right,â I mumble. âI thought so too, honestly.â He swallows hard. âBut then you had to go and be not just brave and beautiful but also humble, and funny, and honest. And I couldnât stop thinking about what itâd be like to be with you⌠So I need you to tell me what I need to do for you to give me that chance.â His jaw tenses as he locks eyes with me. âPlease.â

Jackie's mother has her own blog now, @thedownwardspiralpersonified
Her name is Catherine Wright
What if instead of Hector, Jackieâs mom ran into someone who knew Jackâs dad and offered to take them with him to Shipwreck as they assumed Teague would know where he is. What if when they still couldnât find Jack she just gave her to her grandpa to raise (as he looks wealthy enough for a pirate)? Surely Teague ,or other family members, who have been around a lot of children for many years wouldnât have any problem with it. Perhaps he would even be happy about it?
I give you Catherine "Thank God, I got fucking lucky" Wright and Edward "I'm too old for this shit" Teague
Personally, she probably would leave Jackie once she found family who did want to take her in or could be trusted to find Jack. One thing she won't do is just leave her daughter on the street.
She was looking for the Jack, or at least someone she knows will try and raise the girl. Hector was offered Jackie's life because Catherine was in immediate danger.
Had the whole "Leaves no survivors" thing not been so true, she would not have done what she did.
She isn't that naive, so she probably met Teague herself, just to be certain, before leaving and telling him essentially "Don't tell her anything about me. Say I'm dead or some shit. I don't care"
As for family, I imagine two big players would be in Jackie's life, excluding Teague.
Uncle Jack definitely wanted to be involved in this because he's sweet and also this is his nephew's daughter. Grandmama (while still alive) would as well. She's just like that.
How do you think Teague reacted to basically being handed a baby, being told "it's your granddaughter," and then basically being forced to raise her
I feel like I need to make a post about Jackie's mother, as she is not as one dimensional as she sounds.
This woman was named Catherine Wright. She was from a former upper class family that moved to Tortuga when she was around thirteen due to losing money.
These people are big on appearance. They are the kind of people who buy a mansion to seem rich, when they aren't and really can't afford it.
They also were still, during her childhood, very wealthy and high class. Like, Swann level high class. A few less than legal choices were from Catherine's father were what led to the loss in money and the move.
When she was about fifteen, she met Jack, who was two years her senior. He was civil and would talk to her occasionally, which in Tortuga, a man who is pleasant company and is civil isn't exactly common.
They ran into each other a few times, and while they werenât friends, they were acquaintances. They knew each other in the sense a classmate or coworker knows you.
After awhile, Jack let it slip he thought she was attractive(with a bit of alcohol. He wasn't drunk, just tipsy) when they were sixteen and eighteen respectively. She found him attractive, both sexually and romantically, so she agreed to have sex.
This became a regular routine when they saw each other. Not every time, but definitely more than once. Jack thought no strings were attached and that it didnât mean anything, but while Catherine didnât believe sex was only for marriage, she did believe that sex was special, to be saved for someone you loved.
Deep down, she recognized he probably didnât reciprocate the feelings and had different views. He's a pirate, after all, but in her head she had the explanation that as long as she loved him, it would be fine.
Between this and denial, she continued their relationship.
This caused slowly building resentment as her feelings werenât reciprocated and it hurt, but sheâd take what she could get.
Her explanation as to why it would be fine meant she didnât say no to sex, and therefor kept hurting.
While the seeds of resentment had already been sown over a few years of a painful "relationship," the pregnancy made everything worse.
Her family wouldnât help her as they knew care about appearance. A bastard, pirate child wouldn't look good for their "image." Which means no support system for a girl in her early twenties(like twenty to twenty one). Jack is gone more than he isn't, so just hoping he shows up before the baby is born isn't an option. And she isn't a prostitute(nothing wrong with that, but it goes into her views on the world), so she wasn't getting paid for this either.
In other words, she's going to be a single mother in a town where it is questionable at best. She's going to receive no aid and she has no idea where the father is. And she didn't even want to be pregnant in the first place.
Between starting to really fucking hate Jack and all the problems pregnancy is causing her, sheâs also starting to resent fetus@This woman was named Catherine Wright. She was from a former upper class family that moved to Tortuga when she was young. It was safer than anywhere else for them, as her father wasnât exactly on the right(pun intended) side of the law.
At some point in during her teens, she met Jack, who was two years her senior. He was civil and would talk to her occasionally. They ran into each other a few times, and while they werenât friends, they were acquaintances.
After awhile, he let it slip he thought she was hot when they were sixteen and eighteen respectively. She found him attractive, both sexually and romantically, so she agreed to have sex.
This became a regular thing when they saw each other. Not every time, but definitely more than once. Jack thought no strings were attached and that it didnât mean anything, but while Catherine didnât believe sex was only for marriage, she did believe that sex was special, to be saved for someone you loved. She also had plenty of other views that were more common in the upper class, but not important.
Deep down, she recognized he probably didnât reciprocate the feelings and had different views, but in her head she had the explanation that as long as she loved him, it would be fine.
This caused slowly building resentment as her feelings werenât reciprocated and it hurt, but sheâd take what she could get and her explanation as to why it would be fine meant she didnât say no to sex.
While the seeds of resentment had already been sown, the pregnancy made everything worse. Her family wouldnât help her as they knew the father wasnât exactly someone they would approve of, Jack is gone more than he isnât, and she canât even use prostitution because sheâs fucking pregnant.
Between starting to really fucking hate Jack and all the problems pregnancy is causing her, sheâs also starting to resent fetus!Jackie.
Eventually, she manages to convince someone to help her find Jack while sheâs like three months pregnant. And after a few months of no luck, the Pearl(six months after the mutiny and curse) comes and Barbossa threatens her.
She gave birth to her baby girl hours ago, and through hormones and also because it is apparently possible, she does manage to get out of the bed and walk to try and escape. Doesn't work so well, because newborns cry and Barbossa is smart enough to double check for survivors.
She ends up trying to trade her daughterâs life in exchange for being allowed to live. He doesn't like this and kills her, before taking the baby who had been born only a few hours before.
